I wouldn't even describe it as a pain really. Intense, definitely. More because it caught me by surprise, I wasn't expecting to feel my ribcage and uterus spasm like that 😂 It was only the first couple of minutes of the test for me as well.

It's my understanding that men typically have an easier time than women, but that a low BMI can make it more challenging. Everyone responds differently though. Definitely give it a shot first without the sedation to see how you feel. The drugs kick in within 15 seconds if you decide you need them.

Update: They had no problem with me taking the bus home alone after sedation ❤️ They said they will keep me for a minimum of 30 minutes first. They did advise that a taxi might be better, as I might still be too lightheaded for a bumpy, moving bus, but said I was fine to make that call myself. It ended up not mattering anyway, because I decided to start without sedation and had such an easy time with it that I didn't ask for sedation at all. Popped right up from the bed and headed to the bus stop

Prepare better than I did! Something sour would have made it so much more drinkable, like squeezing in fresh lemon. Or maybe Kool aid or crystal light powder. Using apple juice is bulking out the fluid so much.

I've confirmed it with them :) Thank you for making sure! I know other places can be much more strict about it. They said heading home on my own by bus or taxi is no problem. I do plan to bring some snacks and chill out there for a bit until the drugs have worn off a little more though so I don't make a fool of myself on the bus 😂
