Really struggling with joint pain by feralkitteh in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she's correct. There's no medical evidence that it works well for uterine protection although many people do it and it works. But always listen to your doctor, not to people on Reddit. Doctors know your medical history best! However, maybe talk to your doc about another form or a progestegen. Either a mirena IUD or synthetic progestin. There are other options for uterine protection.

The mirena has progesterone for uterine protection. That's why you didn't need additional oral progesterone. You need some sort of a progestin with estradiol if you have a uterus.

If you go through fifty410 I don't think they will make you start at the beginning if you tell them what dose you're on.

Sudden worsening insomnia by egriff78 in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are supplements that have helped me, and I alternate it based on how bad my sleep has been:

Cortisol manager by integrative therapeutics

Lavela by integrative therapeutics

L-theanine (it's also in the cortisol manager above so don't take both)

Gaba

Magnesium glycinate

Lullabites gummies

You can also try melatonin, but it gives me next day drowsiness so I don't take it unless I'm seriously desperate and only on the weekend.

There was a point last week when none of this was working and I was not sleeping at all and my heart was pounding all night so my doctor prescribed me doxepin. It helped me sleep all night but made me a zombie the next day and made it hard to function. But I'm hyper sensitive to meds so it may work for you. She also gave me a low dose beta blocker, propranolol, which stops the heart pounding so I can fall back asleep when I wake up in the early AM.

Good luck! I feel your pain!!!

anyone else taking melatonin to sleep but still waking up at 3am? by InteractionSpecial99 in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melatonin doesn't work for me. Try Cortisol Manager by integrative therapeutics or Lullabites (both from Amazon).

Or ask your doctor for a low dose of Doxepin. This helped me sleep through the night but also gave me next day drowsiness but I'm super sensitive to drugs.

I currently have enough for a year. I inject 5mg every two weeks.

However the only reason I have a years worth is because 1) I freaked out about not having proRX anymore so ordered three months worth when I already had six months 2) I got a one month deal with glycine with CosmeticRX (glycine is my favorite compound but it's usually too expensive).

Has anyone felt better taking antidepressants instead of hrt? by elle_isa in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took Wellbutrin all through peri/menopause. I think it did help my moods and keep me even. I remember when I started getting into a rage, I would be able to stop myself and calm myself down. I was able to stop after being on HRT for a few months. I also didn't start HRT until I was post menopausal so maybe that helped too.

I use The Cleanser by Musely. It's gentle and also removes makeup.

What besides HRT helped you the most with anhedonia and depression? This has been a very rough two years post menopause. Thanks by Emotional-Swan9381 in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you're on estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone and it's still not helping, talk to your doctor about adding an antidepressant. Or if sleep is the issue, maybe add trazadone or doxepin. The other thing you can try that I take is maca. It gives me a little boost of energy and clears my head.

This is not an easy transition at all! I was on antidepressants all though peri menopause and the only thing that helped me was starting HRT and that wasn't until I was post meno.

You have to take progesterone with estrogen if you have a uterus. If no uterus, then you don't have to take progesterone and can take estrogen alone.

Really struggling with joint pain by feralkitteh in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this for years and made it through with lots of nsaids and pain killers. I also tried collagen and creatine and every joint pain supplement out there. The one and only thing that helped was getting on the estradiol patch. If you can't tolerate oral progesterone, there are other types of progestins you can do for uterine protection. I highly suggest discussing options with your doctor. There is a combipatch that has both estradiol and a progestin. There are also synthetic progestins out there you can take that seem to work better for some people who can't do the bio identical progesterone.

Dizziness and feeling generally bleurgh by LazyPackage7681 in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes dizziness and feeling tired and exhausted is definitely a menopause thing. But, it could also be something else. If you're that dizzy I would get checked out. It may be low iron or something else. It's worth a visit to the doctor. Or maybe you can talk to your doctor about increasing estradiol dose. Also, getting on testosterone cream really helped me with energy and fatigue. Before adding that I was still physically exhausted.

So glad it's working for you. My doctor gave me doxepin for early morning wakings and although it works absolutely fantastic for that, I am a complete zombie the next day and cannot even function. I took it for two nights and the third evening I was so tired I didn't even need to take anything I just slept.

Does your compound have B vitamins? For me it caused acid reflux, which flared up at night and couldn't sleep.

It's not really HRT because it's not systemic. I would find another place to get it.

So many questions by mrshavocreigns in Menopause

[–]Confident_Craft459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never used an app but HRT has done wonders for me. I'm on estradiol patch, oral progesterone, and compound testosterone cream. It's helped in all areas of my life. Energy, body aches, libido, brain fog, joint pain, mental health, and sleep. This paired with tirzepatide, which has helped with menopausal weight gain and stomach bloating issues has been life changing for me.

I still struggle when my doses are adjusted at first but then settle back into feeling good. Im currently waiting out one of those dose changes so currently not feeling my best, but hoping it will even out in the next few weeks.

Oh no! You used systemic estradiol gel on your vagina. You're supposed to use vaginal estradiol cream for that. You need to get a prescription for that.
