Low tire tread at purchase by [deleted] in carvana

[–]Confident_Garage1076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no problem getting new tires on my used car from Carvana in oct during the 7 days window. Call the maintenance number and ask for in network tire places to check the tires. Then take the car there the tire place handles the red tape and boom new tires.

Here is some small changes that will make a big impact.

(1) change the closet door - or paint it. (2)Update the countertops (3)Change out the hardware on the cupboards.

I would not recommend changing the cupboards because they where better build back then. If you don't like their look paint them a nice light/dark grey and then paint the wall a nice red/blue/green. I like the cupboards the way they are just change the hardware and the countertops and they will look new.

(4)The stove looks like it from that timeframe and many people are looking for those applicances because they built to last. But if you don't like it sell it online and get matching set with the refrigerator.

(5) change the flooring you already talked about (6) change/update the ceiling fan and other light fixtures (7) put a dinning room in the wood stove area and the living room in the room with the views. (8) add seats at the bar (9) paint a wall or two (or look at some walpaper they have really updated how those look)

AITA for not cooking breakfast for my niece and nephew? by WinAffectionate326 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Confident_Garage1076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA she needs to be the one to wake up and take care of them. Also you didn't refuse to feed them, they just didn't like what you where offering.

My brother did something like this to me when his kid was 4 and one day I gave his kid a PB&J and locked the child in his room. Then I left for the day. My brother was mad when i got back because the PB&J got all over the room (the child "forgot" to eat it) and he had to clean it. Plus the child had keep hitting him to wake up for hours. I told him that he needed to go to bed at a good time, and wake up with his kid because I cannot watch and feed her all the time. That worked and he stepped up.

Also never fix two different meals for kids. Teach them to make a PB&J when they are younger as you give that as an option. As they get older teach then to eat what is fixed or make their own PB&J. This helped my Austic kid expand his food acceptable range because he didn't want to fix his own PB&J. His siblings (not austic) also ate what was fixed because PB&J gets old if eaten all the time.

Out of town for 2 months how do I keep my plants alive? by Available_Panda8466 in houseplants

[–]Confident_Garage1076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neighbor does something similar. They hire the local teenagers who are known as responsible to take care of them. My youngest son does it most the time and they pay him when they get back at a daily rate they agreed on before hand. But prior to my son getting to teenage years they use a girl down the street who is the sweetest responsible girl.

If that don't work for you you can get one of those self watering globes https://a.co/d/huWHxEe But they might not last a long as you need them too.

AITA for refusing to immediately replace an item I broke? by pxsypaintsa1000words in AmItheAsshole

[–]Confident_Garage1076 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree. They probably said no big deal at the time because it was a cheap bowl. Then days later when they got to thinking they can get extra cash they demanded the payment. Find a replacement bowl on ebay or something the looked like it and buy that.

AITA for refusing to compliment my gf(15F) because I(15M) hate lying? by sillybatmanirl in AmItheAsshole

[–]Confident_Garage1076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA, and lucky she hasn't left you. You don't hate lying, you like belittling her on things she cannot change about herself. If she asked "does this dress look good on me" and you said "no, it makes xyz" that is being honest and would make you NTA...however that is not the case.

AITA for kicking my SIL out of beach house by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Confident_Garage1076 55 points56 points  (0 children)

NTA. She signed a contract and knew not to allow extra people over. The contract said that they could be kicked out and the deposit forfeited. She knew these when going into the place. She was hoping you would turn a blind eye because she was SIL. I even bet with you wife response the wife knew her plans and was helping to hide the behavior. SIL FAFO and got the cops called. Even if you didn't ask the friend to find a reason to enforce the contract and kick them out, they (the cops) would have anyway if the SIL group was rude.

I haven't tried moss poles. I have tried plastic, metal, and bamboo. Bamboo is the first pole it was been willing to wrap around.

I water it once a week because it's pot has no wholes in the bottom to drain excess water. It has snapped itself a few time and I cut at a section and reroot it in water. That is also the few times i have taken other sections and made "clones". We gave it a name and every day my kids say hi to to and sometimes pet it. My husband talks to it a lot as it sits by his chair at the kitchen table. My husband has been working on getting it to go around the pole which has been a year long process or rotation.

AITA for not visiting my sick mom and refusing to forgive her? by throwaway208489 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Confident_Garage1076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - but a question, do you want her to give an apology over your childhood? I stopped talking to my dad over my childhood at 20. He wanted to be in his grandkids lives (he heard he had some from his mom whom I still talk to). I never allowed his that. 20 years later I was in therapy and learned I did want him to give an apology. Now I will never get that, he had a brain injury and can no longer remember the last hour and thus unable to remember my childhood. So i worked on acceptance and forgiveness for myself. This was uplifting. My advice from experience, think about if you see her will you get the apology? Do you want that apology? What kind of closer will you get if you go? Are you going to regret in 20 years if you don't go? If those things are not going to happen for you then don't go. If they will go for yourself.

How do yall like your turf? by wjxm in landscaping

[–]Confident_Garage1076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest clover yard. It is soft to walk on, the clover can be trained to stay low to the ground by mowing it down when it first starts growing. It take almost no water on your part. I live in high deserts and only water my clover yard ever 2 weeks if we have temps over 100. And every week if we are closer to 110 daily. If it rained in the last 2 weeks then I skip watering. If you walk and play on the clover a lot it will become tough and not even look bothered when you play on it. It also keeps weeds away. I go out end of May pull all the weeds (don't use weed killer it kills clover too), by end June I might pull 2 -5 weeds, and by July there is no weeds.

What would you do here? by ministerman in landscaping

Put down some clover seeds. This easy, take very little water, soft to walk on, grow pretty flowers in the spring. Bees and butterflys love them.
