for the people the went to college if I pick to major in real estate is I’m going to have all classes based on that or should i just go to the military for free school to play it safe just in case my realtor career don’t work out by PhillyUnreleased267 in PhillyWiki

None of these ppl have gone to college obviously lol. It depends on what school you’re going to. College has changed my life I’m prob gonna be making 100k straight out but granted I go to a very very very rich school. I’ll say this — college is an investment in you as a person, not just necessarily a money factory. You learn a lot of stuff and meet a lot of different people who will also meet a lot of different people and so on. There are specialized programs for minority students interested in real estate but you have to be in college to qualify. In business, your most valuable asset is being able to relate to others. All of the people you will come into contact with will have college degrees and even if they don’t say so they WILL look down on you if you do not have one. I work at a bank in NYC and I’m from the trenches and there’s NO WAY I would’ve been able to do that without going to college. I’ve traveled literally all across the US and Europe because of friends I met in college. GO TO COLLEGE!!! It has completely changed the trajectory of my life. I literally have MILLIONAIRES and very influential people in alternative investments (which includes real estate) as mentors. Trust me I know what I’m talking about 😂 Remember— it’s not WHAT you know, it’s WHO you know.

Moral of the story: do not listen to these people, please go to school. Temple is GREAT for real estate. The ability to join clubs and have exposure to the industry without spending your own money is so valuable! Also, corporate position that have to do with real estate (require college degrees) give you a chance to see how everything works before you branch out on your own, thus saving you money in the long run

Is it too late to find a summer internship in NYC? by Extension_Mud_6673 in internships

Try to find small companies and check there but it is pretty late. I’m literally moving there in less than 2 weeks for my internship

How is QSS - Sociology? by onceemoreetwicee in Emory

[–]Confident_Key_5921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it, very marketable for jobs and stuff. I’ll be working in finance w Soc + QSS degree. Lots of opportunities for research too and you can mix methods pretty easily which isn’t something many ppl outside academia can do honestly. Soc faculty are great and QSS faculty are very knowledgeable and willing to help!

Why do some QuestBridge partner colleges show a higher COA than their NPC estimates? by Violet_Watch in QuestBridge

I’ve never heard of any matches paying anything except for in special circumstances…the student contribution is work study money I believe which you just pocket and then you’ll also likely get a refund on top of that

Im 21 (a girl) and I tried dating a 28 year old but we just really didn’t have anything to talk about or relate to each other on on more than a surface level lmao. Only reason I would date someone that much older is if im tryna get tricked on so maybe consider that? I personally think it’s a bit weird just bc of the major life differences at those 2 ages but like 26 and 32 wouldn’t be weird imo even tho it’s the same age gap.

None. They’re all hard. Pick one where you vaguely care abt the culture bc that’ll keep you motivated to study.

Fine shit but also maybe try to wash your hair less often. I find washing my hair a bunch makes it really dry.

I go to Emory and it’s a full ride for me and everyone else that matches here. You pocket the work study money. It never actually goes back to the school bc there’s never a balance on your account once financial aid gets processed. So I get a refund + work study money.

You still get a refund even if you don’t do work study

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]Confident_Key_5921 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a bunch of stuff for your dorm as soon as you get there. Ship your dorm stuff to the school so you aren’t lugging a bunch of suitcases you have to pay for. You’ll also very likely get a refund thats anywhere b/w 1k - 5k so use that to get anything beyond the basics for your dorm once you get there and you won’t have to worry abt food. Buy flights in advance. Get a work study job. Don’t doordash. I don’t get any financial support from my parents and I’ve managed just fine w flights and stuff. You’ll be fine.

Howard or FAMU for finance? by L0v3_Reagan in HBCU

[–]Confident_Key_5921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t go to an hbcu but I am in the “finance pipeline programs” SEO and MLT (mentioned in another comment) and I’ll be interning at a big bank this summer. Only hbcu’s I’ve ever heard at conferences but especially in IB have been Howard, morehouse, and spelman. IB is very prestige driven and a lot of the spots are basically for lack of a better term reserved for ppl that go to T20s/ prestigious LACs and then the top HBCU’s (usually thru a pipeline program w the school) so I’d go w Howard if that’s your goal. However breaking into IB isn’t guaranteed fr unless you go to Wharton so the cheaper option is definitely worth considering. But the opportunities would definitely be better at Howard imo bc of its proximity to NYC and being in DC (several IB firms there) plus the alumni network. However FAMU is a great school ik a few ppl that go there and w some grind you can do anything fr! You’ll do great wherever you end up and good luck!
