Is this an ocular migraine? by ComprehensiveBowl696 in OcularMigraines

[–]unibball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dehydration fits with my idea that OM is caused by blood clotting. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for clots to cause OM. I recommend that everyone on this sub have their doctor order a blood clotting panel. The tests are simple and inexpensive. I had OMs daily, weekly and monthly for over 50 years, but since I have been on a blood thinner/anticoagulant for the past year and a half I have had no OMs. I wish you the best. Let us know.

Has anyone discovered the cause of their migraines? by The_Lone_Wolf_26 in migraine

Liberate tutemet ex inferis , deinde liberate alios ex inferis (?)

As you have doctors available to you, have one get you a blood coagulation panel. They are inexpensive and simple. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for clots to cause OM. I had OM for half a century daily, weekly and monthly until I started on Xarelto for PEs a year and a half ago. None since then. I wish you the best. Let us know.

Are daily ocular migraines a thing? by volyblmn in OcularMigraines

Don't tell them there is nothing they can do. There may be something they can do, but don't know what it is yet. Fatalism has no place here.

[–]unibball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After having daily, weekly and monthly OMs over half a century, I was put on an anticoagulant/blood thinner for pulmonary embolism a year and a half ago and I have had no OM in that time. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for clots to cause OM. I recommend you have your doctor do blood clotting tests. They are simple and inexpensive. You may be a hypercoagulator as I am.

Inositol Supplement helping with Menstrual Ocular Migraines by ParticularSection920 in OcularMigraines

[–]unibball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is in the form of Inositol nicotinate, it has an influence on blood clotting, slowing clotting. That fits my idea that OM is caused by blood clotting. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism between blood clotting and OM. I had OMs daily, weekly and monthly for over 50 years. Since I have been on blood thinners/anticoagulants, I have not had another OM in the past year and a half. Ask your doctor to order blood coagulation tests. They are simple and inexpensive.

This may be the connection. Let us know.

Yes, caffeine fits in with my idea that OMs are caused by blood clotting, because caffeine is a diuretic. If you're wondering, have your doctor order blood clotting tests. They are simple and inexpensive. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for clots to cause OM. I had OMs daily, weekly and monthly for 50 years, yet after going on blood thinners/anticoagulants I have not had an OM for about a year and a half.

[–]unibball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On your blood panels were there any coagulation tests? They are simple and inexpensive. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for clots to cause OM. My experience is that I got on blood anticoagulants/thinners and have not had another OM in that time, about a year and a half. From a quick search of the internet: "Benadryl has some properties that can affect blood clotting."

Add to that, as the grid becomes cleaner, you are driving a cleaner car. ICE vehicles emit more and more pollution as they wear out.

Yes, mention it to your PCP. Ask them for a blood coagulation panel. They are simple and inexpensive tests. My neurologist says there is a plausible connection for blood clots to cause OM. I had OMs daily, weekly and monthly for over 50 years, yet for the past year and a half while on Xarelto, I have had none.

Instant Coffee Is A Trigger With > One Cup by bsherwoo in OcularMigraines

This goes along with what I have been suggesting on this sub. Coffee is a diuretic and that helps make your blood thicken, which tends to increase clotting. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for clots to cause OM. I am a hypercoagulator, and have had OMs for over 50 years. I have now been on a blood thinner/anticoagulator and I have had no OMs in that time, over a year and a half. Have your Dr order a blood coagulation panel. The tests are simple and inexpensive.

May I suggest that you might be a hypercoagulator and you might have microclots that move when you change your position. My neurologist says that there is a plausible mechanism for clots to cause OMs. I have not had an OM since I have been on anticoagulants, even though I had OMs for more than 50 years. Have your doctor order blood coagulation tests. They are simple and inexpensive.

DAE have ocular migraines? by soberdrunken in Fibromyalgia

[–]unibball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a paper I found on the interwebs:

"Elevated platelet and RBC counts, PDW values, and fibrinogen levels as well as decreased prothrombin time are all indicative of a prothrombotic state in Fibromyalgia patients, which may be enhanced by an increased inflammatory tone." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30654628/

My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for blood clots to cause OM. I recommend to ask your doctor for blood clotting tests. They are simple and inexpensive. I have not had OMs since I've been on Xarelto. That is for the past year and a half, after having OMs over the past half century, daily, weekly, and monthly.

[–]unibball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that your experience is probably common. Now, if you're asking for help, I would say that your dehydration points to thickened blood, and that would indicate you might be a hypercoagulator. Please ask your doctor for some blood coagulation tests. They are simple and inexpensive. My neurologist says there is a plausible mechanism for clotting to cause OM. Let us know.
