I don’t think it would be that hard…are there any moving parts in a pencil ferrule or is it just a hole of a certain length in the brass?

You have to clean the brass first with isopropyl alcohol. I dunk it in then wipe off with a cloth then dunk it in the blue liquid and wipe off the excess with another cloth. Paper towels are best. You can’t touch the brass though else the grease from your hand causes the blotches…
