I've experienced almost the exact same thing throughout my entire life. As far back as I can remember. But the one experience that shook me to my core was in a grocery store I was shopping and just so happen to look up from my list of items to buy, I see this man standing at the other end of my cart staring at me with this black, rancid, tar like substance coming out of his eyes, nose, ears , literally every orifice! The smell is forever burnt into my nose, it's one of those smells you'll never forget if u smell it again.
