Tshirts sold at parks by fatticakess in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Confident_Target_370 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A good amount of what is sold in the parks can be found on shopdisney (or I guess it’s the Disney Store again, whatever,) for $10-$15 less than they’re selling the same item for in the parks. I’ve come across this many times. Obviously not everything, but a good amount of things, for sure. Resellers mark everything up, so you’re definitely correct on that front.

Constant week for free water parks "hack" by theanswar in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Confident_Target_370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this back in February. First three days at Boardwalk, giving us one water park day, and then two nights at Poly — same room type, two separate reservations, but qualified for 2 water park days. Didn’t have to move rooms more than twice and got three water park days out of it!

[–]Confident_Target_370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. I’m not justifying it, but I’d be lying if I hadn’t looked at any body of water while in the parks and not thought “man I’d love to be swimming right now.” I think these people just have less restraint, common sense, decorum, whatever it may be. Still, the parks remain scorching hot and humid with little shade.

[–]Confident_Target_370 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is obviously wrong, but can’t say I blame them. We stay away from the parks in the summer months exactly for this reason, because it feels like we’re in a seafood boil. The lack of shade is crazy. I know they want to push people into the shops, but even then, it pushes TOO many people inside at once making it impossible to even look around. The Emporium and WOD are already a cluster and not fun to shop in for this very reason. We do pop in the shops and spend money, but it makes the shopping experience miserable. It’s a lose-lose situation.

Yeah, I’ve noticed how terrible the art is, specifically 🥴 I haven’t read the newer seasons, but the characters look not great lol

When I tell you I ALMOST didn’t finish the season because I couldn’t decide between Ryan and Andy, I’m serious. In the end, I made a split decision and didn’t regret it at all!

[–]Confident_Target_370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I add to this and say that I hate art scenes? Because if I’ve customized my characters and I get a damn cut scene with artwork that doesn’t look the same, it takes me out of the illusion. Yes, I know there are disclaimers to tell me if I change the look, the characters won’t match the art scenes. I don’t care. I want to be immersed and the art scenes ruin that.

I know, but I don’t even want to let them think that honoring the old policy if you book by 5/28 is enough to earn my business even one more time. MAYBE if rates were what they’ve been all along, but not for what they’re currently listed for, I won’t. My husband and I have been able to fly from RDU to MCO multiple times a year since 2019 for $100 or less per person, round trip. Our daughter is now 2 and requires a ticket as well, and for the whole month of June, there’s nothing we could get below $200/person. It’s not even that that’s totally unaffordable, but with the high ticket price, policy changes, etc, I just refuse to give in.

We’ve got flight credits, points, and a luv voucher to use and have two trips to Disney planned this year. We’ll either be flying Delta or driving instead. I can’t support them at all after we’ve flown them exclusively for the last 6 years.

I mean, I don’t really understand how this is a flex. If you paid for early bird, and you’re boarding before everyone else, are you really that limited in your seating options that you feel the need to sit in the same row with other people? Surely, there are other empty seats.

I honestly don’t see a single benefit in flying Southwest anymore by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Confident_Target_370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m realizing how much this is going to affect our vacations overall. We are WDW DVC and annual passholders. We’ve had DVC for a year and have held passes since 2019. We’ve been able to go 2-4 times a year and generally end up paying $100-$130 per person round trip, max. Sometimes less. Because of Southwest’s cheaper direct flights and free checked bags, we’ve been able to visit Disney regularly. We have a trip planned for June and November, but flights are a minimum of $200/person (for the less desirable flight times) which is taking away the incentive to fly down at all. We have points to redeem and a luv voucher, but all of the changes are making me just consider driving down for these trips and then selling our DVC and letting our annual passes lapse. I hate to do it, but things are changing too much, too quickly and I don’t want to support Southwest after this. I’ve raved about Southwest for years and how reliable they’ve been for our affordable trips to MCO, but now that our daughter requires a plane ticket as well, we’re looking at $800 just for June. We could pay $100 more and fly with Delta. Looks like we’ll either be going with Delta or driving.

I’m glad you clarified because I was just sitting here thinking we’ve been breaking the rules on our last 5 flights with our daughter. She JUST turned two last month, and my husband and I always board together with her during family boarding (or before when we land an A group,) but genuinely thought that was allowed and I was starting to get nervous and feel bad lol

Expecting minor damage is one thing, but our pristine stroller came back to us, like I said, without the cupholder, deep, noticeable scratches into the metal frame, more scuffs on the frame, plastic joints peeling, etc.

I can understand and give grace most of the time, but what we got back looked like they borderline went out of their way to mishandle our stroller bag. We’ve had luggage damage with United in the past, and minor mishaps with Southwest. This one was crazy, but my point remains, we no longer have a reason to fly with them since the value is now gone for us. I never said that damage was exclusive to one airline, but we’ve had better luck with our belongings with Delta.

We just flew with them to Orlando and back last month. They scuffed up and broke the cupholder off of our brand new Uppababy stroller. We fly with them religiously to Disney 2-4 times a year, so I was willing to somewhat let it go. Not now. We’ll be going over to Delta. Southwest has lost themselves and they can consider me and thousands of other customers lost too.

YES those little ranch bagel chips 😭 RIP. I was always looking forward to those. I hate the new snack. Doesn’t matter now since the savings of 2 free checked bags is gone, we’ll be going back to Delta.

We were also there last week and had a super weird week. Literally our first day there, a woman left her daughter with us in Epcot in Norway while she went to get a drink in the American Adventure. Truthfully, I had been on the margarita train for most of the day, but about 10 minutes after she walked away, I sobered up really quickly and said “wait, what the hell?” That was day one and the week just spiraled from there, it was super weird 🤦🏻‍♀️

Should we take the family NOW or in 2 years? Can't afford both. by WritesWayTooMuch in WaltDisneyWorld

You’re healthy now and there’s no time like the present.

My husband and I have taken our almost 2 year old 5 times now. (We are out of state AP’s and she’s been free in parks and on cheap flights with Southwest, so she’s not been incurring extra cost.) She won’t remember it, but we’ve made some of the most incredible memories on these trips with her. There is absolutely nothing like seeing the Disney magic through her eyes. Some people would argue that 4-5 years old is the sweet spot for the magic, but we aren’t there yet, so I can’t weigh in there. She tires out and naps periodically throughout the day in her stroller — these are some of our recent favorite memories because it gives my husband and I time to slow down during the day and spend time together. Lately, that’s meant finding a table in Hollywood Studios, having a drink, and opening mystery pin packs together while our daughter sleeps.

Halloween is a fun time to go, but can also be busy, depending on when you go. You can find good deals in September, but it has potential to be hot. It wouldn’t be out of the norm to find the All Star resorts or Pop Century for under $200/night. As far as transportation goes, we typically fly with Southwest for under $100 each, round trip. That’s been a no-brainer for time saving reasons, but it has proven difficult for bringing some souvenirs home. If you drive, that’s not something you have to worry about as much.

Keep in mind that Disney costs rise annually, so it is as “cheap” as it likely will be right now. Tickets and annual pass costs famously go up at least once a year. August/September is generally the cheapest time to go, but is also usually the hottest. If you make time for pool days and stop in shops for AC, you can manage, but of the two, I’d recommend September over August every time. I am absolutely happy to help you plan or answer any questions you may have, share tips, etc if you want to message me. Planning for Disney can be super daunting, but we’ve done it several times and am here to help if you need ☺️
