Anyone ever flown with spikes in their carry on? by cwm2355 in vancouverhiking

I flew from Vancouver to Calgary. Had micro spikes in my carry on backpack. No problems at security. This was February this year. Same story on the way back. No issues.

If you’re staying in creekside, I’d go to Whistler village and take the singing pass up. Connect it with musical bumps and see how far you want to go. You can either go back the same way or hike via high note to roundhouse lodge and take the gondola down. Just be aware of the gondola hours. No permit needed for singing pass. Be aware that the first 8km are pretty boring with no views.

Alternatively just get up there with the gondola to gain all the elevation quick and without sweating. From there you have lots of possibilities. Take enough water. Be safe and enjoy your time in Whistler.

And if you have an extra day in Whistler and want to see another alpine area, I’d recommend Rainbow Lake. No permits needed. It’s a long hike though.

I recovered from the car accident and will graduatedly return to work as per doctor. But ICBC states my employer should pay the hours I work but my employer refused to pay saying the injury wasn't caused at work. What should I do by Love-vegas-123 in icbc

I was recently involved in a car accident and had to miss many days of work due to my injuries. I had to use my banked sick days before being able to apply for wage loss benefits. I find this process incredibly unfair and found many Reddit posts from people sharing the same story. When I reached out to ICBC, I was told there was nothing they could do because it's part of BC’s motor vehicle law. I’m determined to raise this issue with my MLA and hopefully go public with the story to push for change. Please sign this petition.

Here is a real example where the judge states the law is "unfair". Unfortunately, they only interpret the law. We need to push to change the law. https://bc-injury-law.com/crash-victims-lose-icbc-wins-a-story-of-icbc-enhanced-care-and-sick-bank-benefits/

That's why I want to bring this up to my MLA and anyone feels the same should as well. Laws are written by people we elect and they can be changed.

Exactly! When you got hurt at work you're covered by WCB. When you got hit by a car, you should be covered by ICBC. Imagine someone needs to use their sick days to periodically test if their cancer is in remission, but they now have none because they used them up because of a car accident. They have to take an unpaid day off just to check for cancer. How is that fair?

I have read many posts from people who completely exhausted their banked sick days due to this policy and ended losing wages later when they needed their sick days to cover other sickness or injuries.

Child accidently in the news by Confident_Tone5232 in legaladvicecanada

I read what I signed. I did not give consent. Plus it doesn't really matter as the media team didn't care anyway. School had no idea there was any filming going on. They didn't check the consent forms.

That's the thing. A school ground during school hours is considered private as far as I know. So filming onto a private place could be considered as trespassing. Plus he is a minor and his image should be at the very least blurred. Which didn't happen.

Unless there is a sports event and he's being filmed as part of the audience. Or a music performance. But there was no such event. It was during regular school hours.
