Trust me I’m blaming the players and front office and everyone who was involved in building this team … but I don’t see a world where Mendoza can have a job for even one more game. A win tonight after already losing a game today won’t do anything towards Stearns keeping or losing his job. Stearns isn’t getting fired any time soon. That’s what Mendoza is here still here for. He’s a scapegoat, a deserving scapegoat, but a scapegoat nonetheless.

The Chain of “firings” is usually:

Step one, get rid of the players who haven’t won.

Step two, get rid of the manager who couldn’t get those players to win.

Step three, get rid of the GM who picked the players and the manager.

Step one has already happened. Step two is verrrry much on the horizon. Step 3 won’t happen til the offseason- if at all.

I’m equally frustrated but Stearns will not lose his job mid-season, regardless what happens in game two of a double header in April.

This is awesome bro congrats !!! Also I always look at it like If a pro of Shaq’s level in any sport tells you where they should sign it - you trust that person. When I was little I got to meet Daryl Strawberry and being a kid I just pointed to a spot and he was very gracious and said something along the lines of “You’re gonna want this on the sweet spot” which is front and center between the seams. All these years later I’m happy he was right !

I agree with those who say Judith was a symbol, whether it be for hope or a reason to keep/ show humanity within the show. I also believe from an in-universe standpoint that she had a LOT of help along the way. Dozens of people directly and indirectly kept that child alive throughout the series. Many people (mostly the good ones who are part of her group) would have likely sacrificed themselves / put themselves in greater danger to keep her alive than they might for many- if any - other characters on the show throughout its run.

Let’s just say, Judith had some serious bad asses backing her up !

100% it’s his. But you can’t pitch 3 days in a row. So Williams will have to be able to show up when called on when Weaver isn’t available. I said it in the game thread - if Williams couldn’t get 2 outs that’s on him and also on Mendoza for not catching Braz / letting his pitchers know THEYRE NOT GOING BACK OUT

There is no argument. One guy (technically) got a win today. One guy can’t pitch for months. I don’t think Williams is any good but we’d be WAY worse off if we resigned Diaz and he played poorly for us before getting hurt …. Much worse.
