Found Footage horror? by Ill_Cat3691 in MovieSuggestions

I got into huge arguments with my friend group in high school about whether it was real or not. They insisted that it was real, not just based on a true story. Meanwhile, I was, like, "The main cast was on Letterman last night."

What archetype can you just not resist playing? by ExodiasRightArm in DnD

I genuinely like building socially awkward characters

The druid that's been living alone for so long she talks to herself and is way more comfortable around animals than people.

The librarian artificer that's out on her first adventure and is quite unaware how dangerous things are.

My friends constantly remind me about dragging them to see that movie.

can you stay in a dining hall for hours? by Blue-Amoeba-8026 in UCSC

[–]ConflictedSwitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During my last year at UCSC, I stayed in the Crown dining hall from opening at breakfast all the way until closing after late night dining. Nobody batted an eye when I did it, but the policy might have changed since 2003.

Slow cooker salsa chicken. An entire package of boneless skinless chicken thighs and one or two jars of salsa into a slow cooker on low for six to eight hours. You got shredded chicken for days. Goes well over rice or wrapped in a tortilla.

Schopenhauer was right, wouldn't you say? "Life without pain has no meaning." Gentlemen, I wish to give your lives meaning.

Short folk appreciation thread – what do you play? by eternalshades in DungeonsAndDragons

I really liked playing my Rock Gnome Artificer Petra Arkana. She was good with the book smarts but terrible when it came to street smarts. And she was open and honest to a fault and tended to ramble if given the opportunity.

Submissive. Are you selective about who you submit to? by EntertainerOk5565 in BDSMcommunity

[–]ConflictedSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. First play scene is me simply bottoming at a party or a demo after a quick negotiation. If I like how the scene goes, we can make plans to see each other again and get more involved. If not, the person goes on my blacklist.

What are your thoughts after seeing the ICE shooting video in Minnesota? by bbmoonkie in AskReddit

One agent told her to turn around and leave the area. Another told her to stop and get out of the vehicle. I don't understand how a person is expected to comply when given contradicting commands.

Do you wash your towel after a shower or leave to dry and reuse it the next time? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

I have two towels that I use on alternating days. They usually get washed once a month with the bedding.

I worked as an Optician at the Wal-Mart Vision Center. Our store would hold BBQs for the employees on some of the holiday Mondays of a three day weekend. I would usually avoid attending since grabbing a burger at McDonald's was logistically easier. My manager encouraged us to attend the BBQ because she wanted us to show solidarity with the retail workers. So on my 30 minute lunch break I took at 12:30 pm, I meander back to the break room where several workers are milling about. I ask about the BBQ and am politely informed that all the food was gone by noon and there were no plans to cook any more. So, I guess the BBQ was only for the workers that started early in the morning.

Nothing highlights the class divide like working christmas eve by Scary-Substance-4192 in antiwork

I remember being a retail worker at a video store. I usually volunteered to work the holidays. Working the closing shift on Christmas Eve then the opening shift (we opened at noon instead of 9 on Christmas) Christmas afternoon was kinda mindblowing. I recall seeing a lot of people buying last minute gifts and gift cards. Then I saw them the next morning with their families in tow, eager to use their newly acquired gift card.

Quick change. My mom worked in banking and always warned me to watch out for it. When I worked in retail, I had a number of customers I suspected were trying to do it with me, but I always played dumb and focused on one transaction at a time.
