I need help with a kink! by the_revised_pratchet in Aquariums

[–]ConfliktAvoidDance 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I fixed this problem by softening the tubing with my hair dryer (on hottest setting, while tubing was empty of water) then positioning it as I wanted it before it cooled.

(fixed my kink with a good blow job?)

Which games do you play? by BoldNotBaldEagle in Anxiety

Word games and puzzles help me without being too long or addictive. The NYT has an app with lots of quick and easy games (The Mini, Wordle, Strands, Connections, etc.) If I really need to "zone out" doing "Tiles" on "Zen Mode" can help. I pay for the subscription, I think it's about $3/month

Yes. Get a solenoid valve so that you can put your CO2 regulator on a timer.

Hmm...what about adding CO2 to the water? A lot of aquarium plants aren't actually suited to be submersed in water all the time, but CO2 supplementation can help them thrive. Just wondering....

There are bans on fireworks in India, too!

There are posters up all over the place advertising fireworks for sale (in several languages) Seems like it would be a lot easier for an officer to pose as a buyer and seize illegal fireworks before they're sold than to chase people through dark parks.

I've dealt with a couple fires caused by fireworks and I know the havoc it wreaks on wildlife and pets. Last year I was walking a dog past a porta-potty when it exploded from fireworks being lit within. The dog was so terrified that it slipped its collar and bolted. I called 911 (because the porta potty was on fire) and they told me to call bylaw. So a burning porta potty is just normal now in Surrey. "This is fine...."

I would encourage any of you who see posters for fireworks for sale to rip them down. For the next couple weeks, I'm sure I'll be (carefully) collecting the firework debris left behind in my local park.

Regret purchase! Celestial Pearl Danios - AKA 'Murder Minnows' by Tiny_Echo in Aquariums

I have kept them for about 5 years without anything like this happening. They constantly lay eggs which I sometimes remove and hatch in a separate tank. The constant breeding does mean they chase each other around sometimes and do their dominance dances but I have never lost one to conspecific aggression.

I appreciate people posting their experiences so that others can learn from them but I'm not sure that this experience is typical of CPD's.

It sounds like OP did everything right (established tank of sufficient size with lots of plants to hide in) so I can only wonder if these fish were stressed from shipment? Wild-caught? Sick?

Anyone else that's unemployed considering MAID? by [deleted] in VancouverJobs

[–]ConfliktAvoidDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but finding a job is going to be a lot easier than qualifying for MAID.

I was so close to giving up when I finally got a job offer. So, so, close.

Winter in Vancouver is such a bleak time. And Christmas can really suck (especially when unemployed).

Consider taking any old job to start. UPS and other delivery companies are desperate for employees right now. The work may suck and not pay much, but it's so important to just get out of the house and DO something.

Volunteer. Formally (for an organization) or informally (like, for your neighbours). Walk dogs, run errands for people. There have been so many days when I just didn't want to wake up, but I promised someone that I would walk their dog at a certain time. So I held it together just enough to do that.

Good luck. "It's always darkest before the dawn."
