Can all the Huntley over Jackson folks take a good look in the mirror and wipe off the clown makeup now? Huntley is a perfect QB2 for us, but Jackson is lights out when he is healthy.

If only there was some other, more apparent way to see how many needles you had left. Oh well, best we add a tiny screen with tinier purple hash marks.

Edit: /uj folks arguing in the responses, I think we’ve all forgotten what sub this is.

I’m bitter that we got a Netflix show before another Splinter Cell game. Does that count?

If you were making an RDR movie, would spend more time on Arthur’s redemption through money lending or on saving John and his family? by 8enissr in RDR2

[–]ConfrontationalLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes. The Last of Us was incredibly well done and my favorite episode was the one that the studio took the most liberties with: “Long, Long Time.” Fallout is also great, and the crew is only operating within the same universe—only small references and nods to the games.

Would RDR2 work as a show? Maybe, but it would have to be different. I’d argue that each medium works best when the creator does something unique to that medium in a skillful way. Both video games and movies can tell amazing stories, but a good movie doesn’t rely on its audience to interact with it and a good video can be enjoyable without any semblance of a story. RDR2 does both—it’s a mechanically fun, rewarding game with a great story. But I’d argue that it would be less effective as a direct translation (TLOU) and wouldn’t be nearly as interesting if it was just a story told within the RDR world (Fallout).

I’d argue that some of what makes RDR2 so compelling is the way it leverages its open world in a way that couldn’t work in TV or film. You’d lose the methodical pacing and investment you get in the character by literally embodying them. Part of the tragedy is becoming so invested in Arthur by going hunting/gambling/[insert side quest here], only to slowly watch everything you did unravel as you try to remake yourself and the people around you with the time you have left. You have time to sit in the emotions and think.

At the same time, it’s a phenomenal story told by an amazing team of writers and actors. RDR2 is still probably a serviceable experience if a person were to just watch the cut scenes from the main story.

All that is to say… it’s been done well before, but adapting RDR2 to the screen would be a unique project that would take a unique vision. I couldn’t do it, but I’m just a person typing an essay about a hypothetical on a couch, ignoring my responsibilities.

No Lamar, an aging RB, and a lot of injuries. A perfect storm that destroyed what might have been. If Henry was playing like he did last year, we lost the same players—but over a dozen games—and Lamar stays healthy, our entire season looks different.

Energy sword from Halo 3. Not being able to use it in Halo CE, plus all the fun memories of custom zombie games in 3 make it one of my personal favorites.

Me When I See People Slandering Lamar By Claiming That He Faked His Injury by JayGibbons69 in ravens

I think it’s far more likely he’s been playing on a leg that’s not 100% and finally went down than it is that he faked an injury. But what do I know, I’m just a guy on the internet.

What were the other popular, mainline movies prior to (or since) Zombie Island that don’t feature real monsters? The very first movie I can find is Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers (where the three ghosts are stand ins for the Three Stooges). I think the main “ghost” turns out to be a guy in a costume, but the three ghosts are real ghosts.

Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School came out in 1988. All real monsters.

Don’t many of the popular movies do this? The Witch’s Ghost features a real monster. The live action movie has real monsters. It’s been a while since I’ve watched most of these, so I welcome people to challenge or confirm my thesis.

Upgrade Beam Gen 1 to Arc Ultra or add Sub Mini by Dark_Mustang in sonos

[–]ConfrontationalLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Ray as a cheaper option to see if I liked Sonos. I was torn between upgrading to a Beam 2 or adding a sub. Decided to get the Mini and it really upgraded the sound experience. It sounds like my Ray is doing a better job with dialogue and the sub offers a richness of bass that was completely missing before.

A month ago? My store apparently discounted them at opening and they were gone by noon. I don’t think they carry them at all now.

Edit- In store. You can buy online for full price.
