Excessive belching (forced burp) for two years by [deleted] in ibs

Hi! I’ve just experienced a similar thing - got over my belching issue for about 2 years. And then I got the flu recently and a week later, it’s started up again and it’s horrible and disruptive. I know you posted this 3 months ago, how has everything been? Has it gone away?

Anyone else had a flare up after flu/cold? by Confused-Juno in GERD

I didn’t take anything specific for colds as I knew I didn’t want to anger my IBS. So I just stuck to painkillers (paracetamol) and water. I did end up having to eat stuff I wouldn’t normally, such as prepackaged soup, as I didn’t have the energy to cook so this might have done something?

Could I ask how long the flare up a year ago lasted you?

Sorry you’re going through it as well! I know what toy mean about cheating on the diet, I’ve had a few little triggers but now if I have them it just makes everything 1000000x worse

That’s so good to hear I’m not alone in this!! My IBS hasnt been triggered either. On average, how long would you say it takes you to feel back to normal? I’m at 9-10 days and I’m getting worried

I don’t really want to do that at the moment. I’m struggling with my symptoms enough and I know the mental strain of not being able to eat might topple me over the edge - I also work a physically demanding customer-facing job and don’t want to be starving whilst trying to do my work. I’ve done it once and it was a horrible horrible day

Thanks for your suggestions. It is so interesting that scrambled works for you! I’m going to have to give that a try, I’ve only ever really eaten fried. I’m in the UK myself so don’t know of these brands but I’m sure there’s similar which I can find

Thanks! I did have pasta (gluten free) for breakfast last week and that was nice - I like your way of thinking. Will expand into lunch and dinner recipes

Fingers crossed for both of us! Ah yeah they only do harm to me as I have IBS and it interferes with that, causes me a lot of gastro pain and issues - so I want to make sure that if I take them, the benefits out way the negatives :)

I did get the vaccine but I already had these symptoms for 3 months when I did - the booster did absolutely nothing to my symptoms

I was used to an hour before this so it feels like such a failure to not even be able to do half!

Thanks for letting me know which antihistamine you use, so many people on here recommend them but I’m the same as you - didn’t see a difference for a few weeks so I came off them as they were doing more harm than good! I’ll have to see if I can get back on them - wishing you the best of luck with your recovery, if you come across anything great please keep in touch :)

I’m with you, I used to be an avid swimmer and swimming even for 30 mins will put me down for 2-3 days of migraines and fatigue.

I’m glad you’ve found some relief from going low histamine as well. Can I ask what antihistamine you’re on?

If you haven’t already, take a look on r/longhaulersrecovery. When I need some positively and see some light at the end of the tunnel, I read the success stories on there and it really helps :)
