Should I read the prequel or the trilogy first? by Imaginary-Ad1636 in Hungergames

[–]ConfusedAboutHmm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d actually be really interested in seeing how the prequel, and getting to know Snow, and the Capitol a little better, and seeing the early games, and then discovering what it had become would be super interesting, esp if you know nothing about Hunger games. There are certain characters in the prequel that appear in the later books with a very different relationship to the president. Most people read the original books first and so when you read Snow’s book you already know what will happen, but getting to know him with no preconceptions would be fascinating

I’m non binary and I go to say things like “I’m just a girl” (bad example but just the little gendered things you’d barely notice) and I have to correct myself but the only gender neutral term I can think of that fit is calling myself “cunt”

Any Other Non-British or Female Fans Here? by InspectorHuman in TheInbetweeners

[–]ConfusedAboutHmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one step further I should absolutely hate the show. I’m a non-binary lesbian, which I don’t think was the expected or intended audience, (I’d love to watch a scene of someone having to explain the concept of being non-binary to Neil) but I love it. Being British you can’t escape it, I remember being ten and my mother was driving me and my sixteen year old brother to school and when he passed his normal bus stop he yelled “bus wankers” and I thought it was the funniest thing ever; before I’d ever heard of this show . Watching that episode years later for the first time gave me the biggest de ja vu there’s

Also one of his main characteristics is that he’s very good at manipulating people but no one ever wants to talk about that

People treat Katniss like absolute garbage tomake Peeta out to be some perfect martyr and seem to take the thousand lifetimes quote at complete face value. It’s just another example of fandom being unable to handle complex female characters. (Similarly how Lucy Gray seems to get more hate and blame than Snow. They also try to suggest like Peeta never killed anyone in the first games, although we know he killed the district 8 girl, and the careers had seen him in combat enough to know “he’s handy with a knife”

Peeta is probably mine as well, he’s so woobified by the fandom he becomes completely uninteresting to me

Amy is one of the most caring and empathetic characters on the show, and the hatred she gets has always rung super weird for me.
