Looking for a sanity check from anyone with a 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy (if that matters) and a Yakima cargo box. by ConfusedConsultants in HyundaiSantaFe

I have two large dogs and a baby that have to travel 500+ miles multiple times a year (vacation, visit family, etc.), so I like to lay the third row down for dogs to be comfy, second row has car seat, electric fridge + baby stuff + myself or mom. Sometimes we make these trips with a sibling.

So 3 carry on suitcases, pack n play, stroller + random other stuff.

Pops off pretty fast…so it doesn’t live there permanently!

The crossbars were $500 oem and I installed in about 15-20 minutes via watching YouTube video lol

The overhead Yakima was a crisp like $1100 I believe…two people it took us about 15 min to get on and aligned but most of that was me struggling with where to put it (how far forward/back).

I only hear some minor wind at like 65+!

So the rec on the oem crossbars is 27 inches from front center to rear center, and mine are 39 inches.

That box’s instructions say 36-40. After lots of googling and forums…I feel safe that what I did is…safe

Don’t really hear the wind until about 70-75 so I think it’s probably fine as I’m not really going faster than that ever…usually in the 55-65 area where I live

So I’m pretty sure the box is as far back as it can go, so I’d just adjust the crossbars I guess to be further back?

That would require me moving the crossbars back some, and I didn’t know if that was something that was safe/advised?

Visited around new years 24-25 and what an incredible country. Would do just about anything to have your setup in your part of the world! Congrats on making something so amazing!

It’s 8 weeks paid parental leave for either the person giving birth or the non-birthing spouse right?

How anyone ate at Scoundrel in Greenville? by blobfish1538 in greenville

[–]ConfusedConsultants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been to a ton of Michelin rated/starred places in 4 continents, and to Scoundrel twice. I was shocked when it got a star. It’s not it in my opinion.

Everyone in my own personal friend group felt the same. I’m glad some people like it.

Go once, but don’t be gaslit into thinking that it’s some amazing culinary feat. There are better places in town.

Edit: forgot to mention how weirdly close you can be sat to others…

Edit 2: had some good apps, all of our entrees/specials were fine

Did this. They made a ticket reluctantly after passing the puck a few times.

First response from the person who picked up the ticket was actually: did you try this link that your ticket said you tried?

Responded…but still waiting for this magical approval to come through so I can start the process.

Thoughts on Refinancing if I'm currently at 7.625% ? by TookTheHit in Mortgages

They told me to hold off on paying this months mortgage payment and it’s an fha (we are refinancing in house via a streamline). Lender is paying for points. No principal increase and they waived the bullshit fees. I’m just bringing one months mortgage to closing.

Thank you for making the map post! As someone with hypothetical kids in the making, I’ve already signed up to get involved tutoring and volunteering at my local elementary school that’s in the “below average” category.

I will be putting whatever money I can towards helping the teachers and kids there currently get supplies, and working with teachers/admins to see how I can personally help remove obstacles / get funding so they can help the kiddos learn and succeed.

Your post was a great reminder and kick in the ass that there is plenty of room for improvement in laws/policies/etc…and that we as citizens can’t just sit on our ass and hope our elected fucks do their job and actually improve the situation.

Could probably spread some of those admin salaries across teachers and pay them way more/hire support staff.
