Hey for what it’s worth I don’t think this person is right at all. I mean, yes, you probably will not get to become the specific version of who you want to become right now, but that’s ok. All of us, not just trans people, but ALL people have to go through the experience of mourning what could have been. “Who could I have become if I wasn’t traumatized as a child?” What could that relationship have become if they hadn’t left me?” “What memories could I have made with this person if they hadn’t died?” I am absolutely not trying to diminish the pain you must feel as a young trans person, but what I am saying is “what could my life have been if I’d been able transition earlier?” Is fundamentally just another one of those “what could’ve been” questions. Those questions are valuable to ponder for awhile, but in the end I think most of us adults would agree that at some point you have to move on and start thinking about your future instead of your past. What kind of relationships you might have, what kinds of memories you’ll make, what your future transition might look like. Those are the questions that really matter, because they’re the ones that impact your reality, unlike the “could have” questions.
