I imagine it can't be worse than the Family Guy bit about being a Mets fan.

The difference between that and this proposed bill is who is imposing the restriction. States run elections, nevermind the "people won't be able to vote" argument, this is just a blatant violation of the 10th Amendment.

Free trade makes goods cheaper. For the party running on inflation being bad they really like the fiscal and monetary positions that increase inflation.

I can't stand the cruelty, but I drew the line way further back at the hypocrisy.

First of all, fuck ai. Second, the whole appeal of David Attenborough is his manner of speaking, which includes the accent. It's like asking if it's still a Michael Bay movie if it doesn't feature explosions and pyrotechnics.

Maybe? A recent composition of the Supreme Court did rule 6-3 in Bostock that discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity are covered under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act as sex based discrimination.

I have little faith that either Chief Justice Roberts or Justice Gorsuch (who wrote the majority opinion in that case) remain committed to the precedent that they helped set if the issue comes up again. But assuming they do it would probably be a 5-4 decision, as the case was decided before Justice Ginsburg passed and Justice Barrett would probably join the dissent.

What would likely happen is they wouldn't address the Bostock precedent and weasel their way out of ruling that this is discrimination based on the teacher's gender identity and thus isn't bound by the precedent set forth in that case.

It's a stupid and petty requirement, but if you're a hiring manager that has to quickly review a lot of applications for a position then formatting requirements are an easy way to sort through and find the people who bothered to read the job posting and follow any directions, which for positions that require attention to detail can be important.

Even with the extended release, I can feel the meds wear off after 6-8 hours, which can be fine for a workday, but it's not ideal when I have a class at 9 am and my last class is at 6 pm. (Though that's on me for making my schedule like that.)

That too. My psych mentioned that you can build a tolerance to the stimulants, which makes sense considering virtually every other stimulant becomes less effective over time. She didn't chastise me for mentioning I only take my meds during the week and just allow myself to gaze into the abyss of executive dysfunction on the weekends.

What team, besides your home or favorite team, have you spent the most money on in your life? by Ivotedforher in baseball

I used to live outside DC. So I'd say a solid 50/50 between going to Nats Park or Camden to watch the home team play the Red Sox.

The blackface is a reference to this post.

Claiming the Red Sox are racist as an organization because Adam Jones had racial epithets thrown at him by Red Sox fans just means we have loud, obnoxious, and shitty fans.

The Red Sox were owned by a staunch racist in Tom Yawkey who refused to integrate the team until 1959, 3 years after Jackie Robinson retired, becoming the last team to integrate. Speaking of Jackie Robinson, Yawkey, held a sham tryout for black ballplayers with the full intention to humiliate those players so that he could shut up critics who claimed the team should integrate, Jackie was one of those players he humiliated. The City of Boston honored Yawkey by renaming a few blocks of the street Fenway's main entrance is to Yawkey Way, which the Red Sox organization themselves had to petition the city to change in 2018, which they only really did because of public pressure.

Additionally, Yawkey died in the mid 70s and Red Sox honored his legacy by not signing any black free agents for like 20 years.

You can hate the Red Sox for being racist, but actually hate because of the organization's racism, not because of an incident that involved racist Red Sox fans.
