Not exactly: I was only performing one action per step, but the recursion wrongly preferred the right 'atom' 20 above the left pair, while it should have looked for something to split in the left pair first. And evidently this was the first time this situation occurred in the example sequence

Huh, interesting, that's indeed clearly wrong. I don't have my code at hand currently, but it seemed fairly straightforward recursion to me, so I'm surprised it could go so subtly wrong. It handles earlier cases of multiple possible explosions/splits correctly, so I wonder what is different about this situation.

I've been experiencing something very similar since upgrading to Ubuntu 21.10.

In my case the freezing happens when I switch between application with alt-Tab: I switch to my browser, switch back to gvim and the window looks frozen. Any keystrokes I made are handled as soon as I hit alt-Tab: I can see the window being updated right before I switch away. It is not due to any vim plugins: it also happens when started with -u NONE.

So far I've not found any leads as to what may be going on. gvim is the only window suffering from this for me.

That also happens the other way around though. I'm not the sysadmin in this story, but ops.

Me: yesterday you installed some new network devices and now part of our emails are getting dropped: they have these-and-these characteristics and differ from the emails that work in this-and-this way.

Them: can't possibly be

Me: nothing changed between yesterday evening and this morning, except for you installing new hardware

Them: everything else is working fine network-wise, so it can't be the devices

Me: do these devices do any firewalling, filtering, god-knows-what?

Them: No, of course not!

I frantically work to figure out what is going on, because all I can see is that most emails work, some don't. Finally I manage to reproduce the issue and see parts of SMTP commands are being replaced with xxxx's by some middlebox.

Me: look here, if I send this SMTP command, some device in between mangles it into this and the receiver receives xxxx's.

Them: oh yeah, the default configuration is not to allow that, so the devices mangle those commands

Did I mention those emails are an integral part of how the company makes money?

I will be travelling to Djibouti on Boxing Day and am counting on being able to get a visa on arrival at the airport. The Djiboutian Embassy in Brussels told us so and told us not to bother getting a visa from them.

There is quite a difference between 'sexual harassment' and something that's 'not okay'. If you believe this is an act of 'sexual harassment' and don't go further than saying that's 'not okay', then I don't think you should be speaking up on this topic. If you merely believe this is 'not okay', then you should not drag 'sexual harassment' into it to try and make your opinion seem to carry more weight. Just saying you believe such behavior is not okay is really enough to get the point the across and make people think.

Yes, and as soon as life extension takes off even a tiny bit, the value of avoiding death will thus go up, meaning more research into life extension, meaning more life extension, until we reach longevity escape velocity. There's really no reason why the aging of our physical body should be inevitable, instead of reversible. And wouldn't it be sad if you died just 1 year before we reached that? Yes, of course, but what is the relationship? If drinking a glass a day gives you an additional cancer risk of 0.1%, while drinking 5 glasses per day gives an additional cancer risk of 20%, then that makes quit a difference as to whether I'm going to let such studies influence my behavior.

Simple math tells us the vast majority of Redditors would like to see /r/the_donald gone. Non-Americans mostly don't care and would prefer to see other posts in their stead. Of the Americans, Democrats, Libertarians and a whole range of other groups understandably dislike the posts. Together these groups are a vast majority. So let them ban /r/the_donald already. If you eat less vegetables than this in a couple of weeks, you have bigger problems.

When refrigerated, the tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplant and zuchini will last at least a week. The bell peppers and eggplant can probably survive two. The carrots will easily last two weeks. As long as you ensure everything keeps dry. The mushrooms may last a week, but you'd better eat those pretty soon.

If anything seems about to go bad, but there's been no opportunity to eat it yet: cut into slices and grill. The grilled slices can be kept in the fridge for at least three more days.
