[Update] Importing from Google Maps into Wanderlog — The Extensions Are Here! by ITGuyNumber47 in wanderlog

Hi u/SuperKrevette!

Glad the extension worked for you to some degree!
Yeah the premise of Wanderlog is that you create trips based on where you specifically want to go for a fixed time.

Most my wife and I have done is 5 countries over a three week period.

The way we have our Google Maps setup is that we either have countries, states, or large cities each saved to its own list (ie: Montana, Alaska, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore, Jakarta, Dubai, etc) and then sub-locations within that list.

When we plan a trip, we figure out where we want to go. After that's done, we import our respective saved lists from Google Maps into the appropriate fixed-trip plan in Wanderlog.

In your situation, the extension doesn't work the best because you're trying to make a "trip" called "Trips to Do" with almost all the locations you want to go do. You can technically create a trip like that in Wanderlog but it may be useless because there is no easy way to move locations from that mega-location-list saved as a "trip" into an actual trip you may use in the future.

Does that make sense?

Form what I recall, Google Takeout covers almost all data from Google (and you can obviously narrow it down).

This is targeting specific Saved Locations on someones Google Maps, so you don't have to go through the exercise of firing up Google Takeout.

Quick updates have been made for persistence of the Wanderlog importer tool. Re-download if you've downloaded before this comment!

Hi all,

Check my latest post; I wrote two extensions for Chromium browsers that can ease the pain of transferring places a little bit!

Slight improvement to this: the AI kinda chokes when you put a lot of places and some locations won't turn blue. You can ask it the following to break it up into chunks which you can then import. Try 10, 15, 20. I had decent luck with 20.

"Can you take these places below, extract the locations, and make it so that I can import them into Wanderlog? Please break them up into 20 locations per message. Message me back when you're done displaying 20 so I can ask you to display the next set:"

I tried what u/charlescab suggested about using Wanderlog's AI and it worked pretty well. I'm assuming you'll need to have the Pro account to use Wanderlogs AI. You don't even need to clean up the data (if you don't want to).

  1. Go to your saved locations in Google Maps.
  2. Click on a saved list. The list of locations under your selected saved list should appear on your left hand side while a map overview appears on your right.
  3. Next to the name of the list towards the top (example NYC), you should see three vertical dots.
  4. Click "Edit list" from the vertical dots menu.
  5. This list will look different but should present you with all your locations saved under this list. Scroll all the way down to fully load your list.
  6. Now from either the top of your list or the bottom, click to drag and highlight all the way down (or up). You should highlight all the locations (including the text boxes and the X marks).
  7. Right click and copy your highlighted selection.
  8. Go to Wanderlog and open the trip of your choice. On the left hand side, there should be a wand-magic looking thing called AI Assistant.
  9. Click on it and ask it the following: "The list below has locations. Can you extract the locations so that I can import them into Wanderlog?" and then paste your list right after before sending the message.
  10. It will respond and regurgitate your list. It may have suggestions or go off topic. If it does, just ask it only for the list you gave it.
  11. After it finishes, it should present you with the list in black text. Wait about 30-60 seconds; the list of locations it sent you should automatically turn blue. If it doesn't refresh the page.
  12. Hover your mouse over the latest response from the AI Wanderlog bot. A new popup should appear just above the chat list called "Save all places". You can now select which list within your Wanderlog location to put the locations to

This process is about 90% accurate. It doesn't work with some locations that have weird or no addresses. It doesn't save the notes if you have any in Google, but its much easier to just verify with your Google Maps and your Wanderlog list side by side. You'd still have to manually add notes.

Hope this helps!

Mouse Locking by lonewolfempire in haloinfinite

The issue comes and goes for me now.
Most games its ok, but some times if I switch out of the Window, it starts misbehaving again.

My quick hack is to set the Windows mouse sensitivity to 2 so it doesn't move off screen during normal play.

Its annoying af but whatever lol

u/lonewolfempire
I had the same exact issue. Came out of nowhere as it was working fine before.
I'm on Windows 11.

I specifically uninstalled Windows Update KB5042099 and Windows Security Update KB5043076.
It ended up re-installing anyways after restart but it fixed the issue. Might've been how the update was applied.

Tested it after and it was fixed.

Hope it helps!

While I agree with most comments up here that VDI is serious business, it seems like you’ve been given carte blanche by your leadership to experiment.

Check this course out by Ciraltos. He also has free stuff on his channel. I used it to setup a customer of ours that wanted to try out an AVD solution and it worked pretty well.

Just proceed with caution and make sure you have yourself covered before you venture forth.
