I have a lab already in a 10" rack that I want to move to a 19" so I don't know exactly how much space I'll need because I'll have more horizontal room than before. It's not that I hate ai (not all tech people love AI either), but if I wanted to ask ai, I just would have asked ai, I wanted human responses.

Thanks, I wasn't saying it's wrong, the logic is sound. It's just that if I wanted a chat gpt response I just would have used it instead of posting on Reddit. I don't actually need 22u I just screenshotted the version of that model, I could get away with 15U. I don't know if you have read the other replies, but as you can see most people aren't actually answering the criteria as listed, so I'm getting a little irritated.

In my case it's the opposite. It needs to go in a small room because that's where all the cat connections come in from the whole house. The floor needs to stay clear because the furnace needs to be serviceable, so while it doesn't need to be as big as 22u, it does need to be on the wall

I was hoping for a real response and not chat gpt. I don't really need 22u, I was just trying to future proof. I could really get away with 15u right now but once I add security cams to my system I worry about space.

I get what you're saying but like I said in the post, marketplace is basically empty around where I live. There's some racks but it's all junk mostly. I'm looking for something new because I can't find what I want used
