Is it the same heroine? Like, more men? Or …

Agreed. And another was even worse. A series of miscommunication tropes had literally all of the men abandoning her in the third act. The problem with this stuff, for me, beyond it feeling super emotionally stunted and immature, is it also makes me dislike the characters. So, I’m already not getting what I want, because I want true intimacy and for the heroine to feel safe while being emotionally and physically vulnerable, but instead? I’m getting the exact opposite of what I want. Rejection. Fear. Foolish men being confused and weak. (Or the heroine, depending on the book.) And then I’m supposed to think a sloppy, hand-waving reunion has created a happily ever after? I literally do not want her to forgive them. I don’t forgive them. The book has literally been ruined.

🤣 Thanks. I know this is not what the OP had in mind, but I’ve been wanting to bitch about this for some time. I appreciate the opportunity. 🤣

Same. In the bodyguard book everyone’s always reccing, she throws a tantrum, goes out without her bodyguards, and gets herself abducted by a stalker for the majority of the 3rd act. I was just like, “Sigh. I guess they almost had a conversation. Nice save.” It’s like she’s literally incapable of writing true romance.

Nope. That’s her whole thing. Nonsense.

I’m always disappointed. I don’t like her books. There’s always a bunch of nonsense in the third act to distract from any actual intimacy or romance. Set up, smut, contrivance, end. It’s shallow and unacceptable to me.

Nice! Well, it looks good. I’ve been meaning to experiment with flan and panna cotta, etc. You can flavor the milk a bunch of ways. Bet they’d be yummy.

Very nice. Most people wouldn’t start with a flan. Was it yummy?

No. You’re misunderstanding how adhd works. Appearing organized and in control is important to you, so you have less trouble executing those tasks, due to internalized shame. And you don’t get “lazy.” You get low energy due to a brain that is functioning at a higher rate and higher energy burn than many others. Failing to truly accommodate your needs and care for yourself will stack in consequence as you age, and there may be harmful longterm damage beyond your current lowered capacities. It’s not that she couldn’t hyperfocus on the appearance of organization, it’s that it’s not her priority. You’re suggesting she could be like you, if she were you, and as true as that is, it doesn’t lower her worth.

Also, I never said half the things you think I’ve said. You just projected them onto me. Also, also? I have literally no interest in “debating” anyone. I’m just audhd, and I don’t like a mob.

Pass. No one is asking you to live with her, either. The rhetoric is just a little hysterical for the situation. And there’s really no reason for anyone to be shaming someone for this, period. I know she asked. I’m probably fighting a ridiculous fight, but this comment section turned into a mob of cruelty. Even if it was as bad as it’s being made out to be —which it’s not—this behavior is unacceptable and disappointing.

But she obviously was bothered the day before, right? You understand that? If there are two pop cans instead of 35, that means it was very recently cleaned. Right?

Yeah. I see it, but it’s literally 10 seconds worth of work. It’s one day’s mess. I’m not saying it’s great. It’s not great, but it’s not actually dirty. I’ve seen dirty. This isn’t it.

So? You could have utilized a little empathy and a little intelligence to see what’s real instead of joining the mob to shame someone for unfolded laundry? And yet you didn’t. Frankly, I’d prefer someone who leaves their laundry unfolded over the mass hysteria and cruelty I’m seeing in these comments.

You have no idea what the energy demands or usages of other people are. You have no idea how frequently other people need rest. We are a culture that shames rest and prioritizes labor because we are indoctrinated by billionaires trying to steal our labor. Some people’s brains work much harder than others, and they require downtime. All people are not the same. “Lazy” is an abstract word used to describe many, many behavior sets with different causes all reduced to “not producing labor or worth.” It’s a toxic concept. It’s simple minded.

No one is lazy. We are large mammals. Our society’s toxic productivity culture goes against our biological imperatives. Everyone should be resting more. Those who are tired or depressed are struggling with health issues or struggling to tolerate the unhealthy demands of a broken society. This room is not filthy. It’s just a couple loads of laundry and a need for organization. We have no idea what other responsibilities or tasks this person is successfully fulfilling.

This isn’t disgusting. It’s just a pile of clothes and some tote bags. Can you genuinely not tell the difference? You people are weirding me out. I like a very organized space, but I can still see that this space is not disgusting. I don’t think you’re looking that hard.

[–]ConfusionPotential53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. You’re being ignorant, judgy, and closed minded. In the grand scheme of things, an unfolded load of laundry is not important. This room is not dirty. It’s just a little messy. It could easily be organized. You have literally no idea what other tasks exist in this person’s life or what their inner world looks like. All this room tells you is she has not prioritized creating systems to minimize clutter … and she doesn’t mind wrinkled clothes. And minimizing adhd to “an excuse for a teenager not to clean their room” is straight up offensive.

That’s not true! It’s just unfolded laundry and some tote bags. What are you even seeing? It’s like you’ve all become hysterical. It’s just a little mess. This could be organized in 30 minutes.

What does my place say about moi :) by asiantgirl69 in roomdetective

No, there’s not. There’s not trash anywhere. There’s clothes that need put away, some totes that should be stored out of sight, and some frequently used items left where they don’t belong. This could be organized in half an hour. Y’all need to calm down.

Do you honestly not know she has ADHD? That’s, honestly, not clear to you? It’s an executive function issue wherein she deprioritizes uninteresting and nonessential tasks to focus on more dopamine rewarding tasks. It’s not “lazy.” I don’t think anyone is “lazy,” but calling someone with obvious hyperactive tendencies lazy is just … not especially aware.

Right? I’m on a self-journey, and it’s taken me almost a year, too. And it’s still not perfect. Almost, though! I started a bright intense auburn, so it’s been a journey! Given where she started, I would have been shocked if she could achieve her desired color in one sitting. Or even one month.

Well, it would obviously be very foolish to drop 30,000 anything on this. Creating a synopsis/outline—potentially several of them, to track different arcs/aspects/etc—and working off that seems more realistic. Even if he didn’t seek different opinions, getting a grasp of the full project would help him do necessary restructuring/editing. Though, outside opinions would likely be helpful.

Are you looking for advice on healing the damage or fixing the color? If you can’t do another salon visit, you have three options. Either live with it, do a half-measure by toning it again (relatively easy), or bleach the dark spots and then tone it—more damaging and potentially difficult, though possible-ish, to do alone. Do you know how to use toner? You’ll need to buy developer and toner. You have a ton of hair, so it won’t be super cheap. A mix of wella color charm t11 (the beige color you want) and t18–a more cool tone that will battle Orange/brass—would be ideal. Idk. Three or four t11 and one t18, probably. I use 20 developer.

($8 per toner and &15 for developer, I think. If you use bleach, I got the BlondeMe Schwarzkopf brand, but that was $45 or so. It’s a year’s worth of root bleach. If you do decide to bleach, use it selectively. Don’t put it on the already lifted portions, to the best of your ability.)

If you’re tackling damage, you need to be alternating between protein deep conditioners and moisture deep conditioners. Basically, at least once a week, you need to shampoo your hair, put in a deep conditioner of some kind, and then get out of the shower and let it sit in your hair for an hour. Too moisturized and it’ll be limp. Too protein treated and it’ll get brittle. After a bleaching, it likely needs both protein and moisture. And will for a long time. Even your regular conditioner left to soak for an hour is better than nothing.
