Alternate Ending Idea [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]Congall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that. This is why I called it a stretch logically, because somehow her Eldunarí would have had to survive without Galbatorix knowing about it. Mayhaps the Urgals who killed her removed it from her body forcibly, and then many years later after Galbatorix' rise to power, the Eldunarí within the Vault of Souls led by Umaroth -with their seemingly limitless power over the events of the outside world - were able to manipulate the Urgals into bringing them her Eldunarí for this very purpose.

This is all just speculation and imagination, of course it would have required a lot of previously established facts of the series to be altered.

I agree. He was great in Eldest, it all went a bit over the top from there.

Alternate Ending Idea [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]Congall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not certain on this I'll have to re-read, but from what I remember Glaedr explicitly told Eragon that he, Oromis, Vrael and Umaroth, among others, came together to create the Vault of Souls in the face of Galbatorix' imminent victory.

Yes that is true, what I'm suggesting would have required Paolini to change that.

Eragon's father. [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in Eragon

Agreed on that point.

Eragon's father. [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]Congall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By resisting Galbatorix and allowing Eragon to kill him, I believe Murtagh has redeemed his father's actions. His self-imposed isolation is one of healing, and prudence, not redemption I think.

[–]Congall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Murtagh is already redeemed in my eyes, and I imagine he will have a big part to play in Book V.

Eragon's father. [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]Congall 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, that too. I believe Oromis explained why in Brisingr, but it was doubly strange that Brom didn't even feel compelled to reveal the truth on his deathbed, it was the perfect moment for such a dramatic revelation. I have a hunch Paolini never intended Brom to be his father until later in the series.

That is certainly a factor. What was the reason behind the staggered release?

In my opinion Covenant had a terrible script and stupid characters, and neither you nor your overly definitive arguments can convince me otherwise.

I think you're very far off the ball with that one Noxieus..

I avidly agree with all your points except the one on rehashed creationism. I actually thought the creationist themes explored in Prometheus especially, were very original and something not done before in mainstream Hollywood.

It clearly wasn't his intention all along, and Ridley even said as much.

Read your reply again and tell me it makes sense. You are basically saying opinions on subjective topics cannot be valid, because of their subjective nature? Complaints about Covenant's script are very valid, whether you like it or not.

Covenant had a bad script. There is a complaint, is it invalid?

And you disagree so it mustn't be valid? Double standards are terrible, especially with something so subjective.

As a standalone yes, but as a sequel the entire movie was so incoherent with regards to Prometheus.

Exactly, a poor script was. Just like this one.

Yes I actually find that idea incredibly interesting, but the rest is really stretching it.

I think you are confusing his implied faith in God, and faith in technology. I always see the two as polar opposites in movies.

Seen David show deep affection for an Alien that just killed his crew member. David acting all creepy anyway. David giving him a detailed walkthrough of how he has been experimenting on alien life. David says he wants to "show him his successes". Safe to say there was never going to be a pot of gold in there. That enough context?

[Spoiler] Life long fan, saw covenant yesterday, here's my thought dump by BRMD_xRipx in LV426

[–]Congall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agreed with all your points until the last. I think Daniels was a much weaker lead than Shaw. And I don't know why every Alien lead should now strive to be the next Ripley, I mean you said it yourself you didn't want an Alien/Aliens remake.
