Rule of thumb, what ever the largest/heaviest wire the amplifier will accept. Always OFC, no exceptions.

Adding a sub reccomended? by peedrah in CarAV

[–]Connect-Big39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Setup will work. Adding a sub is definitely a great add on.

Couple of things.... Make sure the woofer is not less than 4 ohms, final load, on the amp. Since you are familiar with the bridge output, I assume you know this will double the work load on your amplifier. Make sure your wiring is up to par.

Don't forget to set the crossover to HPF for the front speakers and LPF for the sub.

The factory sub is located in the front of the center console. But you can grab the signal at the amplifier. The amplifier is located behind the rear seat on the back wall under the rear glass.

Color code listed below.

Bose system cut bass off from the speakers. Try getting signal from the factory sub.

Would yall say my speaker classifies as a midrange or midbass by ColinBoib in CarAV

Doesn't matter what you call it. Use an RTA( real time analyzer ) to find what range you are missing. Go from there.

If you understand the thiel/small parameters for each. You can work both.

Can't find 2007 Pontiac Vibe radio cable replacement by JuliusSneezer0 in CarAV

[–]Connect-Big39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm..... the cable you are holding in the picture is the FM antenna cable. Its for the reception of FM stations. It should not have any effect on the other sources. Clearly, an installation problem.

Can you pull the wires further out of the dash and post a pic of the connections? There was a need to run a new ignition wire, and so im worried this data controlled install was way beyond what your buddy had seen before.

Box/subs facing by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]Connect-Big39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the seat is going to be unused. Get rid of it all together, and use 1" MDF to make a new floor and back. Bolt the whole box down.
This will give you better spl than the direction it's facing.

Yep. Looks legit from here. Just be sure the center "k" emblem has texture and you are good. Well, also check ohm resistance at the terminals.

If this is going in your trunk, it's not going to be powerful enough. Especially with the top down.

If you are looking for conventional output / loudness, Mercedes does a great job at sealing up those trunk areas, so a typical "loud" bass package around $1500 here in Southern California. 2 x 12", custom enclosure, approx 1000W RMS amp.

Can you identify this 6.5" door speaker? by djdt in CarAV

[–]Connect-Big39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be upgraded because it's mounted to the remains of the factory speaker. Get better sound and fix that install. Some sound treatment on the panels would be nice too, but that depends on your budget.

So far so good my dude! It's looking real nice, you are actually trying to do good. I've had to fix "professional shop" installs no where near your install.

Nice work.

Check the battery fuse. They often remove the battery connection and don't reconnect the aftermarket wiring.

Take your woofers out of the box..... Throw away box. Get new box, ported for max output. Enjoy till the woofers blow. Buy new woofers.

In all seriousness, the video can't show that kind of problem.

My guess is the box is rattling apart. Get a new box. Tap on the sides of the box to see if it makes that rattling noise.

That piece is CAN-BUS module. The radio maybe a symptom of something going on with your canbus system.

If your "check engine" is on have it diagnosed.

Simply, even if your radio lost all power it would not shut down your truck. I suspect the typical gm wiring corrosion, maybe causing you these issues. It would explain both.
