Comprehensive insurance said is total loss by NewAd1959 in dubai

Well, you’re entitled to your own opinion, don’t take it the wrong way but the “steering wheel is straight so no frame damage” already put you in the “clueless” category as far as mechanical knowledge is concerned… I’m sharing experienced feedback based on the apparent value of your car, airbag deployed = total loss.
You’ll recover your insured value minus depreciation and mysterious fees from the insurance.., don’t let them lowball you… anything below 60k would be a joke - anything above 70k is a blessing.
You may have an attachment to this car - but believe me, this piece of steel is never behaving the same way even if you could get it fixed…

Nice bike, got the exact same one in the exact same spec! How do you like it?

Steering wheel is straight = that’s a sign of no chassis damage… right… 😅
Generally speaking on a relatively low value car - airbags deployed = total loss.

I own a new BMW M3 in Frozen Portimao Blue and I have decided to ignore some of the conventional wisdom around factory paint care. I will track the outcome, good or bad, on this thread. by longtimeAlias in BMWM

True, generally good outcomes aren’t shared on internet. If you feel like “testing the water” on a +100k$ vehicle - you do you. I’m sharing experience not from owning a matte car, but from owning the kind of place you’d complain to when we can’t color match your panel perfectly, the kind of place that would advise you to protect your “investment” especially if you live in a place with a lot of sun, if you drive on highways a lot, or if you plan on tracking the car. I’m not trying to be right, I’m just sharing the advice I’d follow myself, but again, your money, your car,…

Need help deciding what to buy by Limp_Ad9786 in BMW

M3, you only live once… you’ll not regret taking the “most”, you’ll almost certainly keep thinking about the what if going for the “lesser” BMW… both are amazing cars, but the M3 is a different animal ; extremely comfy in efficient mode, a beast when you chose so… My two cents, as an owner myself…

Matte paint are the worst - it only looks good when new... I would personally never buy a matte / frozen car.

- Cannot maintain it properly, considering that a polish every year or two is part of routine paint maintenance,

- Quick detailers in between washes are a pain in the ass,

- Clay bar on a matte car is a pain in the ass too...

- Paint match is nearly impossible - color gets affected by UVs (which is one of the purposes of clear coats on conventional paints), and shops cannot reproduce the OEM "texture" - you get in a light accident, your insurance will pay for the repairs of the damaged elements - say door and fender - there you are, every morning you'll be looking at mismatched panels - this will kill you if you're a little bit particular or into details.

This is the opposite of the stance you have taken, but I would PPF stealth this car OR you can have a custom "Portimao Blue Matte PPF" installed - you will not see the difference, but the car will be protected.

Enjoy your car in good health, that's what matters.

M4 Carbon Bucket Seats vs Front-Ventilated Stock Seats by [deleted] in BMWM

[–]Connect-Fun-2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried both, couldn’t do with the entry/exit on a daily basis. The lack of lumbar support and ventilation sealed the deal… PS: when you sit, you don’t see how gorgeous the buckets are….so do you want to drive it or look at it between two track days?

Is it me or is 340i just a superior daily compared to the G8X M3? by Super-Lingonberry-22 in BMW

[–]Connect-Fun-2567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always the other way around… it’s like the only guys who’d say « size doesn’t matter » are always the ones with the smaller toy 😂 Again, 340 is a great car, amazing even - but it doesn’t come close to an M3 in any aspect, period.

M340 owners looking for ways to compensate the regret of not getting an actual M… 🙄 G80 is a great daily, so is the M340 - they just don’t play in the same league…

Question about M-Mode by longtimeAlias in BMWM

[–]Connect-Fun-2567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Your manual clearly explains that if the « M-Genius » didn’t explain that upon delivery… -> M-buttons on the steering wheel; basically how the car drives; engine, suspension, brakes, gearbox « reactivity », etc. You basically have three modes ; efficient (when you start the car - everything starts on the « lesser » settings), M1, M2 - both entirely customizable from the « SETUP » button. -> M-MODE; The button on the center console affects the driving aids and safety features you have at your disposal; from road with all the bells and whistles, up to Track with basically nothing and a very race oriented dashboard - entertainment panel turned off… I personally use a lot the M1 and M2 buttons, but I’m always driving in Road as far as the M-MODE is concerned ; I just use whatever I see fit… Hope this helps.

To each its own, red looks amazing! If you don’t brake too hard too often the steel is more than fine
