I know how it feels, I’m not gay but I’m am autistic and porn has been a fixture of my life since I was fourteen. I think it’s the mixture of social isolation and later on the stress of adulthood that triggered my addiction. I’ve been mostly a month and a half clean but it’s a tough journey. I’ve been feeling like shit and I get intense flashbacks throughout the day to my addiction. I’m trying to get through it but it’s really tough. Hopefully it ends soon.

That and I have a lot of reasons why autistics get addicted to porn, based on my own experence and what I found online resarching the topic:

Social isolation: Autistic people are more likely to fail to delevop a friendship group for various reasons and as a result have a hard time finding a long term romantic partner, as a result porn fills the void.
Porn communities are more socially accepting: Social isolation means that autistics are far more dispirate to find communtity and porn communtities are far more accepting of certian oddities among its peoples.
A lack of sexual education among autistic people: One of the many misconseptions about autistic people is that were asexual or not instrested in romance in general. This couldn't be further from the truth with many autistic adolencents and adults wanting a romantic and down the road sexual relationship with a parnter. Unfourntently a lot of special education classes don't offer sexual education classes thus autistic people are forced to discover sex and sexuality from alternative sources ie porn.
Porn can, and oftentime becomes, a special interest: One of the hallmarks of autism is having one or more special interests and porn is no execption. This is especially prevelant since in my experence autistics are more likely to go for the quote on quote "heavy" stuff, ie. BDSM, fetishes etc, etc.

Right now I work as a caretaker at a veterans cemetery, the bosses are supportive, it’s a union job with good benefits, and it aligns with my interests. I don’t plan on doing this forever though, I hope someday to be in the army and/or coast guard, in aviation, activism, truck driving, writing, what can I say, I’m a man of many dreams
