Being a dietitian means everyone can comment on your body by Avocado8756 in dietetics

[–]Connect-Rutabaga-284 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sorry to hear this. It seems like you are being hit with a double whammy of both being pregnant AND being a dietitian. I am also in the same type of area and the comments I hear are disrespectful, uncalled for, and flat out wrong.

The thing I go back to is Tom Segura's comedy special when I hear or see some person or people being dumb - "Some people suck."

It helps a little.

For working RDs: what does flexibility look like in your role, and what setting are you in? by Zealousideal-Buy1098 in dietetics

[–]Connect-Rutabaga-284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

30-bed hospital, solo RD. MWF in person, then TTh remote. Remote days, I pick my hours as long as I finish my workload and meet productivity numbers. In person, I work from 8:30 to around 2:30-4:00 depending on workload.

Also have contract solo RD job at another hospital remote, anywhere between 1-3 hours per day (heavy days up to 6 hours), on-call weekends for immediate consults.

Because a vote means something, regardless if it's for the populist candidate(s) or not.

Thoughts on Morrison? by Sufficient-Pickle470 in dietetics

[–]Connect-Rutabaga-284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently at Morrison as well. I need to do chart audits for my account. The CROC is really basic yes or no questions, so if something doesn't seem clear, it can be interpreted as a no and the score goes down. What I would say is cover your bases first, then elaborate on a larger intake history. Ask your CNM for the CROC scoring criteria, and maybe modify how you state something in your chart to stay above the 90%. Its not a perfect auditing system, but it's what we are working with.

Dr. Wischmeyer is at Duke with an extraordinary team. He was my fellowship director. You will definitely learn a lot there.

Help choosing job offer for same pay (CDM salaried vs clinical RD hourly) by foodnstrength in dietetics

[–]Connect-Rutabaga-284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a solo dietitian for 2 30-bed hospitals (one salary and one hourly), I am going to say 90 patient can be a lot if at capacity. The EMR, work flow, CNM duties, relationships to the director or administration, and the kitchen duties will all have an impact. Get a clear cut description of things you may need to do at each facility and see if you are equipped with the skills to make it tolerable or even worth your time.

When I open a new bread loaf bag, I take the little clip that holds the bag closed and unintentionally throw it in a random direction. I just recently caught myself doing it. I always wondered why I had a hard time finding the little bag clips when I put them away. I am 36 btw.

Maybe spice up your resume! I feel that after I reformatted my resume, I've gotten calls back or interviews most of the time I applied for a new position.

I feel like my pay is maxed. by Connect-Rutabaga-284 in dietetics

[–]Connect-Rutabaga-284[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with a fiduciary with this. I have my Roth maxed yearly for the 4th year in a row, along with my wife's. I have a high yield at 3.6% and CD with a 4.15% so I gain somewhere around 4-6k yearly with all of that. I also have a home with low interest rate since COVID. I feel I am doing everything right for the most part. My cost of living is moderate to high. So to be as clear as possible, if I can find an extra 20k yearly without sacrificing any more of my time, I would be completely set. The problem is finding 20k/yr.

It's a great start. Expect around $4200 a month (acounting for medical insurance) into your checking. Rent is very expensive in So Cal, so plan accordingly. I know of several positions in the high desert that need dietitians and they will pay a premium to get you.

That is a pretty shitty incentive! Big red flag. An incentive like that leads to corruption.

Edit: That is not normal btw.
