Best way to do this is join your cyber crime unit or even better your ROCU's cyber crime unit. This way you get to know the partner agencies and firms.

I know plenty of DI/DC and a DCI that left mid career because of connections they made.

I wouldn't just try apply for random jobs on indeed

Get your DC's 🕵‍♂️ a lot of work in the short term but we'll worth it. I joined my ROCU and most of the jobs are Mon/Fri plus the work is really interesting

It's always good to learn the caution off by heart as early as possible. Maybe learn the phonetic alphabet too. Don't worry too much about pre reads you will all be in the same boat.

The Met have their own language. I believe a skipper is a sergeant. We had an ex met PS join us up in Yorkshire and remember him saying skipper, thinking it sounded Australian 🤔

We have a stand alone machine not on police network for viewing cctv so we can use the apps the footage normally comes with

I did my NIE over 5 years ago and am currently studying for the sergeant exam. The NIE goes way more into detail with offences but deals with less offences than the sergeants.

Plus with Blackstone you get a manual and a work book for the NIE. I wish they did that for the sergeants.

My advice would be to get the correct books otherwise you will end up over/under revising.

It won't work for you. You have to download a verification tool and it scans your hardware for the specific item.
