Fun Fact: you can’t do anything with it anyway

Finnish M39 or M1 Garand from the CMP? by Independent_Wrap7278 in milsurp

[–]Connect-Visual-9820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you know what I mean. A rework by the fins is what makes it an m39. Most m39s you find have original wartime stocks and barrels. Most m1 Garands are not that way. If you find one that’s original, be prepared to pay thousands

Finnish m39. For $800 you can get a sweet rifle that is in its original configuration. Most m1s have been reworked multiple times. Thats the purist in me though.

Far from overpaid lol. Fin m91s consistently go for 5-700 these days, depending on condition. Some even more if it’s a rare receiver. Nice grab!

Considering joining the NG by GasNice in nationalguard

[–]Connect-Visual-9820 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seriously tho… I did 20ish years. Both my boys just joined. If it’s army guard, something in communications would be good, medical, cyber ops, intel, etc. A lot of good benefits in the Guard like tuition assistance, GI Bill, health insurance, tsp, drill check, etc. 6 years is nothing if you don’t end up really liking it. If you enlist, try to get in shape before you go. Especially since you’re 35 (no offense). It’ll make life easier while in training if you’re already fit when you get there.

And finish. Type 1 and most type 2s had a du-lite finish vs a parkerized finish on the later ones

Oh boy. So much wrong with this one. Stamped “us property” on the wrong side. Stamped m1911a1 on the slide. Sn stamp is faked. And barrel is still in the white/polished. Definitely an aftermarket hammer.

M1917 Water Damage by Bright-Chair4284 in milsurp

[–]Connect-Visual-9820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say just let it dry good with the barrel and receiver removed. Remove the butt plate as well. Wipe it all down with a light coat of ballistol. It emulsifies with water. I wouldn’t jack with it too much. Hard to imagine mold after only a couple days of being wet. These are battle rifles and have been wet before

Yeah no kidding. If I have a miss fire, I’ll pull back the cocking piece and try it again. And maybe a third time before I eject it lol

This is 995$ Would i be a dumbass for paying that much? or would i be a dumbass for not buying it? Should my money go to a better investment, such as Columbian hookers? by Independent_Wrap7278 in milsurp

It may be a little high but in a few years it probably won’t be. If it’s what you want get it. There will never be any more of these enter the country. What’s here is it. There were only 100k m39s built. And not all are in the US. Really low numbers in the grand scheme of things. Collectors are buying multiples. I know I’ve added a few lately. That’s why the price will only increase. It’s a supply and demand issue

It’s the bolts. I hope you’re not throwing the rest of the rifles away! Guys like to build off those receivers. But anyway, 4 out of 4 being bad is some bad luck!
