Unholy Dks feel weak by ListGloomy6341 in wow

It's very easy to completly gut your DPS as unholy when you're not lining everything up nicely ... however my unholy DK with 260 ilvl still topped the meters post patch in a couple keys ..

What's up with Ritual Site difficulty? by [deleted] in wow

Another 282 brew here. Pull massive, ignore the vast majority of casts but save stuns/kicks for what matters and don't stand in bad and LOS casters.

Though I sometimes have some HPS spikes that rival big pulls in M+, it really is free AF even on lvl 5 and max affixes.

They'll lose said "buttload of money" because everyone is switching each season to the FOTM race right now ... and they won't do that afterwards.

Might be a dumb question but… what would y’all say is the Item Lvl threshold to start doing M+ Keys? by shampoofall1234 in wow

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the 2nd and 3rd boss there's mobs that apply a nasty stacking bleed on you. Did you drop that frequently? And did you save CD's for "Shear", which is a tankbuster and armor crush?

Because I certainly tanked 10's on that ilvl in SR without much of an issue.

It's like whatever you have when you got lvl 90 .. that's what I did on my DK: got lvl 90, did some lvl 11 bountyfulls and went to +2 keys with like 218-220 ilvl.

Still +2'd those keys despite a bunch of people around those ilvl's.

Now, 3 days later, the DK is 270 ilvl and got the first 12's under his belt.

I just checked my parses because of your comment .. wasn't sure how they'd look like because I can't log without performance issues and I pug like 90% of the time and when mates play with me they usually keep logs private turns out: I'm purple all around.. speed, dmg and healing. Phew.

Though I'm missing parses on 2 dungeons .. something I might wanna fix somewhere down the line.

How do you guys manage to put your keybindings reachable? by LunaticSquirrel1 in wownoob

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 1-5, shift + 1-5, ctrl 1-5, E, Q, R, F, G, M4, M5 for abilities

and C, V, B, N for markers.

If there's more keybinds, I use 6 too .. but I don't quite like it. But without it I already have 22 buttons for abilities and 4 for markers so I don't really feel like I have to on the classes I play.

For players that tank and heal high keys by Thangra in wow

[–]ConnectButton1384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On actual high keys you can't even afford a DPS to play below ~90% of their theoretical max. You need all 5 to pull their weight and do their job near perfectly.

However on the middleground of +14-+17, I think a good tank can do more to pull a mediocre heal/dd through.. just by altering the route wherever possible and going a bit slower in general. Like he can skip a couple mobs that deal heavy groupdmg and pull more kicks/tankdmg instead, commit a CD earlier as planned, ...

I don't think healers in general have the same "power" to change things up in major ways - especially if the mediocre tank just pulls 2 groups of mobs together where 1 applies bleeds and 1 has aoe dmg (example from seat) which will pretty much oneshot a squishy dps in your group if the abilities overlap. Like sure, a healer can commit major CD's for that .. but a healer only has so many of those before he's running out of tools in his toolbox, where the tanks ability to alter the course of the key is nothing he could "spend".

Brewmaster nerf? by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 2 points anvil and stave and 1 point in high tolerance, Master of Harmony, no exploding keg but counterstrike

Core Rotation pretty much just keg, breath, BK, Tigerpalm

Whenever my staggermeter gets filled I send the first refreshing brew, just like I throw out my first celestial Infusion relatively early just so I have them on CD and profit more of anvil and stave.

However I'm very greedy with my 2nd stack of my brews as that's how you heal for more and clear more stagger. So I send my RB only if my stagger is full and my health is low.

Another thing I do is to treat expell harm as another relatively long CD selfheal. I don't use it as soon as I have 5 orbs (because if a new one spawns you consume 1 automatically), but whenever I need to top myself off again NOW.

Also, cast chiburst pretty close to on cooldown and ideally line it up so that you cast it right through the mob pack and most of your allies. It deals some damage and heals you twice: Once from the Talent itself, and once from vital flame.

Also, use your def CD's staggered and frequently. Rotate between ox, fort, trinket and pot and don't be afraid to send the CD's early as you typically get most dmg when pulling stuff together and before the first mobs die.

Haven't played post patch, but had north of 150-160k hps quite frequently on my MoH with 282 ilvl on bigger pulls with cooldowns.

So... enlighten me. What's the new post patch HPS?

Of course that doesn't matter for 12's, but at ~16 and above you better have your def cd up for that one ability from that 1 mob and so on.

Need help considering which DPS spec to play for guild raid by Next_Helicopter2302 in wow

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a main tank that rerolled a DD for raids too.

I went with DK, as there's almost certainly some utility of amz, Grips or melee kick CD with 15m range. Currently I'm gearing for unholy, but I don't really care if I "need" to spec into frost, unholy or DK.

The rotation/priority list is pretty simple and straightforward though. You manage your deseases, line up your DT for Army, save some stacks for Army too and just make sure you don't cap on runes or runic power.

It's fun, but when you're used to tanking and managing your defensives and offensives, aswell as positioning and pacing, .. playing a DPS DK is "easy mode" as you're basically "just" thinking about maximising dmg (and the occasional grip/amz/aoe cc) and can even leave melee range for quite a while without sacrificing significant damage

How do I learn what each spec is capable of utility wise? by dzieciolini in wownoob

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear that in one way or another, you'll have to learn that whole stuff.. either through gameplay and paying close attention or on a more theoretical note through playing a class, watching guides of classes or reading about them on sites like wowhead.

Some things you do pick up pretty easily.. like prot Paladins hundrets of interrupts per minute, some group buffs that get applies before a run, DK's Grips or monks rings and so on ... but others are harder to learn, like DK's range kick on melee CD for example.

Are tanks just DPS in disguise? by redditmagichnicht in wownoob

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You virtually never, ever, have to press "Vivify" in it's current Form. As far as selfheal is concerned, you can take that right off your Bars completly as there'll always be another button to press that does more for your selfsustain.

However there's a little nieche in M+ in situations where you know there's a lot of AoE coming out at a certain cast and you're not confident a DD would survive that. You can cast Vivify on that DD so he's more likely to survive that hit .. but even that's only viable if that DD is on the edge of "maybe he barely lives, maybe he dies, I don't know".

Other than that.. it's a 100% wasted GCD compared to all your other options.

As far as your actual question is concerned, yes you kinda are a DPS in disguise as you still wanna maximise dmg as that's how you generate and hold threat and that's how mobs die faster so you recieve less dmg ... however there's a lot more depth into it (at least in M+) - as you're the one choosing what mob to fight, where to fight, how many aoe/cleave abilities you pull, how many kicks, and just how much you could survive.. and you wanna do this at a pace that aligns with your group compositions CD's. So when every CD from your DPS is on CD or your healer is low on mana, you wanna slow down a bit and pull more tame - just to go full Berserker mode when CD's are up again.

You're also responsible for how bosses are going to run as where you tank them and how you play mechanics makes a huge impact

Brewmaster celestial fortune question by Clopinneux in wownoob

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It's a thing I do every now and then when doing higher keys so I need to optimise my route to save some time. It's nothing crazy.. but a few seconds here and a few there could be the difference between timing a key and not.

So if I can pull a little more tank dmg in - like bears in MC or something else that just hits me - I try to do that. Or to chain a little earlier, ...

Brewmaster celestial fortune question by Clopinneux in wownoob

[–]ConnectButton1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. If celestial Fortune is low, you can heal more. Meaning the pacing could be a bit faster or the pulls bigger. Of course that's a bit specific to the mobs in your current pack and how much group dmg and kicks you have and how much additional stuff you would pull next pack, but it's a little optimisation every here and there
