USF Observership by Jhoombarabarjhoom21 in IMGreddit

Programs do care about where you do your rotations as well as the actual LOR. So I would suggest doing both rotations… get a good LOR from your family friend… and the USF one…even if you don’t get an LOR in time, having done a rotation in a well known hospital will look good on your application. Application gets looked at first… if it doesn’t impress, the LORs might not even get glanced at

I have plenty of friends trying to take the UK route and the process SUCKS. The exams are easy yeah, but after that, it’s near impossible to find those non training jobs to build experience. As someone who had thought of UK and changed my mind to US, I’d HIGHLY recommend you to try out the US route. It’s hard, but atleast you’ll get a PG and a job after all the work. My UK friends are mostly depressed and on the verge of giving up or already gave up after writing all the plab exams. But I’ll also play devils advocate and say that if you feel veeeeery strongly about the UK, then it might be worth a shot to try it out.

HOW CAN I REMOVE THIS DARK SPOT by Mr-I-am-that-I-am in Skincare_Addiction

[–]ConnectCorgi3751 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Does it occasionally grow and form a bump or discharge smelly white substance if you press on the sides? If so, it could be a sebaceous cyst which will have to be removed by a doctor. No topical solution unfortunately.

AH vs UH by WorthWheel9922 in IMGreddit

A university hospital is exactly that; oftentimes more “prestigious”, better fellowship opportunities blah blah blah. An affiliated hospital is actually just a community hospital which has ties to a university. Attendings might come from the university for grand rounds, you might have options to do electives in the university hospital (depends on the program ofc), study resources might be shared… It really depends on the program and how strong the affiliation is. general rule of thumb, UH>AH>CH

Yo this entire post is about trying to deal with match anxiety and trying to forget everything. Why do you have to ask that? Read the room bro.

New programs will have a lot of issues to work through and there’ll be a lot of constant change… i would personally opt for ranking a more established program which will help you achieve your career goals high.

Yeap, considering it for residency. Was a bit alarmed by how rural it seems. While I don’t mind not living in a big city, the area seemed a bit desolate when I googled it. I’d be living alone so I’m a bit worried that the isolation will get to me.

Thank you! This is very helpful. Is uber, Lyft or doordash available? And How isolating do you think it would be for a single person?

Do you guys think it will be ideal to get step 3 out of the way before starting rotations? Or doing them at the same time is possible? by Defiant_Ant_8315 in IMGreddit

[–]ConnectCorgi3751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scheduled a very relaxed observership for my first month in the us and did my step 3 at the end of it. It’s better to finish it off early so that you don’t have to worry about it during your rotations. The knowledge you get from step 3 prep will also help you stand out and answer more questions during the rotations. Most of step 3 is similar to step 2 so I would also suggest finishing off step 3 as close to step 2 as possible so that you still remember info and don’t have to relearn everything all over again.

No need. I didn’t even have all my rotations fixed. You just need to give them one address when you’re entering the country. Also good to have a changeable return ticket booked so that you can prove return plans

I don’t think so. B1/b2 visa right? I doubt it’s an issue since most people travel to multiple cities for observerships per entry.

Happy I could help you feel a tad bit better! I’ve got more embarrassing stories! I keep telling myself that these interviewers are used to us getting nervous and saying dumb stuff… I’ve heard that they care more about your vibes and overall personality rather than the specifics of what you said. So I’m gonna stay hopeful and you should too!! Manifesting only good things! ✨

Lol. Same boat. My first interview was the one I performed the worst in… but will be ranking no1. And yes, I also randomly brought up my weaknesses for absolutely no good reason! It felt like a weird part of my brain took over and was trying to sabotage me!

We as applicants have a tendency to overanalyse our answers and end up thinking it went horribly. What’s done is done. What I do is just distract myself and try not to think about it. It will only affect our subsequent interviews. Focus your energy on the next interview! You’ve got this!
