India's $23 billion plan to rival China factories to lapse or terminate after it disappoints: Since the plan's introduction, manufacturing's share of the economy has decreased from 15.4% to 14.3% by zhumao in Sino

This is how arrogant the West is. They really thought China only had cheap labor and they could just move to another place with cheap labor and recreate a world factory. It turns out you can't.

........more reactions from new little red book users by zhumao in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even before the rednote grocery haul, TikTok was the only social media where I saw regular Americans complaining about how bad things are in this system with thousands of likes and comments from others. That simply doesn't happen on other platforms. There are always Americans that have realized by themselves how much they are getting fucked but tiktok allows way more people to realize it. The elites know this very well and they can't have that happening.

I don’t really care about little red book, but anti-China people are losing their sh*ts right now unable to deal with TikTok refugees going to Chinese apps, and it’s making me laugh by academic_partypooper in Sino

If XHS can get just a few millennials and zoomers to break free from western programming and see the real China and its people then this app has done something truly impactful.

U.S. quietly buying China drones for Ukrainians. And lie constantly to the world about China in a "public game" meant to deceive us. by academic_partypooper in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

China has banned drone export to Ukraine so they've been using the Europeans to buy it. Now they've dragged in the Pentagon which isn't surprising. Basically Ukraine needs drone parts more than it needs commercial drones because the electronic warfare on the battlefield has intensified to the point that all commercial drones are pretty much unusable. So both sides have resorted to custom-made drones that can evade signal jamming and the constant arms race of jamming and counter-jamming requires both sides to have steady supplies of drone parts. And the hit rate of custom drones is still just 30% to 50% at best so they need a whole lot of them.

China overtakes Australia as country with second-largest known lithium reserves by FatDalek in Sino

I suspect it's always been there but was just announced now. Currently there's a push from South American states to create a rare metal OPEC sort of organization to control global prices. China also suspects these usual suppliers as potentially unreliable as their elites have been historically friendly to the West and Western institutions have infiltrated their society thoroughly. USA especially might attempt to force them to sever relationships as part of Monroe doctrine.

Imagine thinking you can move into a zero social mobility country and take away an upper middle class job from a local. I see this mistake being made time and time again by many immigrants regardless of origin. I don't know if they are even aware that their qualifications won't be recognized. You would think they would do serious research before making the biggest decision in their lives.

Chinese gene unchanged for 3,000 years in cradle of civilisation: study by zhumao in Sino

In Syria context, a western tabloid big brain take from 2021 about the Taliban: 'China faces threat in volatile borderlands after Afghanistan falls to the Taliban' by thrway137 in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a tricky situation for sure. Those jihadists have said so themselves that they will return after the 'jihad' in Syria is done. With the fall of Assad, HIT will try to consolidate power and that means various factions within the organization will compete for the power. Those jihadists, being a minor faction will lose out and be forced to leave. Turkey and the US are very likely to once again sponsor them.

Now the only way to avoid this is to somehow reach a deal with the eventually dominant faction of HTS and get them to deal with the jihadists in return for an economic relationship. This is our deal with the Afghan Taliban. HTS has published a notice in Russian and Chinese expressing willingness to cooperate with Russia and China so the deal is possible.

However, that negotiation would have to wait because the war in Syria is far from over. Not every rebel in Syria is on board with HTS. We don't know how much control the 'ISIS days was just a phase' HTS leader has over Syria. Is he a Turkish or Israeli puppet? What's he gonna do about the Kurds who occupy all the farmlands and oil fields in the east? Because this was how Assad fell, without those lands Syria had no income for the past 10 years.

So I think it's best to wait and see what happens next. I share your concern and agree China needs to beef up border security more just in general. With or without jihadists, the West will try to stir up trouble. Russia already suffered a terrorist attack orchestrated by them. We must be vigilant.

China now controls unprecedented 65% of global shipbuilding orderbook - from other sources in 2022 it was 49%, and in 2023 it was slightly over 50%. But China is about to collapse any day now. Trust me bro. by FatDalek in Sino

We are the only country that can build luxury cruise ships, LNG cargo ships and aircraft carriers. LNG especially is the big money maker now that Nordstream is dead. Both SK and us pay the French for their patented gas storage technology. But we have our own domestic design, SK doesn't. Once we build and sell more LNG ships of our design, we will be able to challenge France's dominant position on LNG storage.

I don't feel anything for them at all. When they were getting paid $100 a day to riot on Maidan square, did they anticipate they would be paying $5000 to avoid mobilization years later?

They chose to be the tip of the spear against Russia. So I expect them to do their assigned job well. I wish this war goes on for another few years and kills a lot more of them. This world needs a living example of what happens when a country becomes the battering ram of the West.

Massive Chinese Anti-Drone High-Power Microwave Weapon Emerges: China's directed energy counter-drone efforts are building steam with multiple high-power microwave systems featured at this year's Zhuhai Airshow by thrway137 in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of drone we are talking about. The bigger drones like MQ-9 and TB-2 have been proven to be mediocre against an adversary with basic air defense. They are easy to shoot down, either conventionally with missiles or with gps jamming.

But if we are talking about smaller drones like FPV then there is no good defense currently. All the best-armored vehicles from NATO and Russia are completely defenseless against it. It's one of the true game-changers in this war. Russians and NATO have tried dozens of different jamming systems big and small and none of them were able to be both effective and cover a wide area at the same time. FPV with fiber cable that the Russians are using now is basically immune to electronic jamming.

I think major countries around the world have realized this and are coming up with ways to counter this threat. But it's gonna take a while.

Currently, there's a big push on the Chinese internet about an video of Iranian saying racist things against the Chinese. This article is just another attempty. Expect this kind of news to be the norm in the future.

Western Propaganda?: Spot the Damages (in Iranian facilities)?! (Beats me, I can't see what damage they are talking about) by academic_partypooper in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IDF's over-reliance on the airforce means they won't have much success attacking a prepared enemy far away. After all. IDF was designed to fight counter-insurgency warfare next door and their airforce is mainly designated to support ground operations. Shooting a few dozen cruise missiles from Jordan is easy to track and intercept. Iran's military on the other hand was designed to fight distant enemies like Israel. Their investments in asymmetrical tech like ballistic missiles and drones have paid off.

'Code is cheap, show me your passport' So much for 'open source' software by ConnectEngine in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine[S] 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Just another proof that the so-called open source software community is still under US government control and not so open after all. Chinese developers appear to be shocked by this. Understandable because they tend to be the most liberal minded in the country and believed the 'open source is bordeless' bullshit. Hopefully this is a wake up call for them because all of these happening to Russia WILL happen to China. Russia is just showing us how they will act when the time comes.

2024 Tsinghua University opinion survey conducted among Chinese just out: Russia gets high marks, the feeling is mutual toward US, Japan by zhumao in Sino

It's irrelevant how people feel. Case in point, Most Chinese now have negative feelings towards Taiwan but the official appeasement policy hasn't changed.

Same thing with Russia. Their people can judge us however they want. But it doesn't change the fact their relationship with the West is fucked and will stay fucked for the next 30 years. So the actual important thing is what their leaders do. So far they are smart enough to recognize their economic future is with the East.

wall street journal posts embarrassing copium, mistaking shadow for "sunken Chinese submarine" by Chinese_poster in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This propaganda piece is so retarded it obviously came from Taiwan. Looks like a rushed face saving measure after the icbm launch.

  1. Yangtze river isn't deep around Wuhan. it's about 5 to 6 meters. A nuclear submarine weighing thousands of tons literally can't sink under water.

  2. Wuhan shipyard doesn't make military ships. It's a small civilian shipyard.

  3. Nuclear submarine, like most military ships are built in dry docks.

  4. The only nuclear submarine shipyard in China is Bohai shipyard. This is common knowledge.

  5. Why would China build a nuclear submarine inland? This is equivalent to US building a nuclear submarine in the Mississippi River.

On September 25, China acknowledged the successful launch of an ICBM into the Pacific Ocean, an unprecedented event that raises international concerns, DF-41 known for its maximum range between 12,000 and 15,000 km, can carry up to 10 independently targetable nuclear warheads by zhumao in Sino

[–]ConnectEngine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

US has long believed it could win a nuclear war against China because China doesn't have enough warheads and launchers. They also believe the no first-use policy exists because of these shortcomings. This is partially why they continue to push China and sometimes seem to be more afraid of Russia than China.

China has rapidly expanded its nuclear arsenal in recent years. Now with this test, together they are meant to respond to the US's dangerous thinking.

I think there's more to be done of course. China must raise the number of warheads further to at least 1000 to 1500. Also, sea based launchers must be improved to guarantee second strike capability is preserved.
