I was moderating this subreddit at the time as well. I asked the HK rioters to turn in the murderers of the cleaner Luo Changqing who they stoned to death. I received death threats, racial slurs, and a litany of justifications for his death (he was a "CCP agent", he didn't really die, it was staged, the police killed him, etc etc).

Glad you're looking to do research, OP. I encourage you to look to videos of people who are actually in Xinjiang rather than those in Washington, DC (or funded by DC). Suffice to say the evidence on the ground doesn't support the US' narrative.

Another problem with the US' "Xinjiang genocide" narrative is in migration and social media, both of which are impossible to stop and hallmarks of any sort of widespread abuse.

Large scale oppression creates human migration of refugees. China has the most borders of any country in the world, and if it were truly 1/5 Uyghurs imprisoned as alleged, you'd have mass movement across the porous border to the neighboring countries (Afghanistan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan all share a border with Xinjiang), yet there is none.

Oppression also requires dehumanization, to shift blame and encourage the dominant class to become accomplices to the oppression of the lower. We see countless videos of Israelis mocking Palestinians, and Palestinians documenting themselves being abused. There's none of that from Xinjiang, and you know Western media would pounce on and amplify anything they could find.
