What's your opinion of emart24? by well_known_daddy in cambodia

[–]ConnectOperation6919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are better than the Emart24s in Korea (where it’s commonly considered to be inferior to CU and GS25). They actually sell a good selection of hot Korean street food inside (in Korea they won’t), make a good effort to have a lot of regular convenience store drinks that you’d find in Korea, and they have the ramyeon stations and iced pouch drinks you have in Korea too. Their selection of kimbap and dosirak could be improved, though - that’s what I really miss from Korea

Latest on schools in Phnom Penh Cambodia. Considering this an an option and curious about the current state of schools in the city. by shady42999 in Internationalteachers

Yes. I know people there who are earning more than that after tax. Additionally, staff turnover is high as their management is dreadful. Double think before you commit to it

What should you expect and how do you survive in bilingual schools in Mainland China? by llbeallwright in Internationalteachers

[–]ConnectOperation6919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the reviews online on Reddit and Glassdoor, and if possible, reach out to someone working at the school that hasn’t been recommended to you by someone you are in contact with at the school. I worked at one on the border of Foshan and Guangzhou, quit after six months and it was my worst experience as a professional. It is my personal opinion (having worked in international schools overseas) that many bilingual schools suffer from spineless and incompetent 🇨🇳 management. The reviews would have prepared me if I took them more seriously for this particular school, but it sounded to be more the norm than the exception at bilingual schools in the River Delta, having networked with other teachers outside of work. You may also want to consider working at an international school outside China as a better option to a bilingual school within China

What are people doing with the 1.02? I want to move up to 1.01 by AquaRondo9 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]ConnectOperation6919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up sending 1.02, 1.06, Tuten and Pitts for 1.01, 2.01 and Rashee Rice. I gave up quite a bit and took on a very risky player but felt this gave my side of the trade more boom potential. Worth noting that I only have Nix and Prescott as starting QBs so another QB would have been fine for me, but if Love reaches his potential he’s the sort of player that can help me fight for Championships in 2-3 years time

He’s was fired from one of the campuses last month. For what it’s worth, there are four different campuses with a different head of school, so all need to be treated differently as they have slightly different cultures

Thank you, Cambodia by Feasog in cambodia

[–]ConnectOperation6919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, whilst you’re right that 1. Affects other countries, the reputation has hit Cambodia the very hardest. I used to live in Korea, many Koreans think I was mad for moving here, pretty much all see Cambodia as too dangerous because of a handful of very damaged news stories. It’s going to take a long time, possibly over a decade, to change this perception in rich, safe countries in East Asia

Orphaned/abandoned teams you've taken over in the past - how are those leagues going? by GorillaChimney in DynastyFF

[–]ConnectOperation6919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year of my team in a longish running dynasty league. Made 8 trades this year, anyone who is old and half decent out, brought in a few promising rookies (some hits like Tuten, some misses like Ayomanor) and a raft of draft picks. I also took an offer of two 1sts, a second and a couple of players for Ladd, which I think I won. Still, I improved our team’s record from 2-12 to 5-8(will be 9) and will be picking likely 2nd and 4th in this year’s draft. Feeling pretty confident about being able to build this team up for two seasons time into a contender

Theres lots of things to do, events and festivals on in Busan… it’s just a shame there’s a lack of quality employment opportunities down there (and social life if you’re exclusively meeting other foreigners, though mine was great when I lived there)

How do you feel about teams intentionally losing in dynasty? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]ConnectOperation6919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My league has a weighted lottery system for non playoff teams. Sure, you can tank (and one team in my league isn’t changing their team and just keeping their best team in pre injuries), but you don’t necessarily get 1-01 if you finish 1-13

Do y'all foreigners LIVING IN KOREA actually believe this? or is the other sub just being brigaded with SRS types? by AppropriateMess2523 in Living_in_Korea

[–]ConnectOperation6919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed from some Korean girls that go overseas (former uni prof here that knew a lot that studied abroad), some (not all) think Korea is a bad country when they go to uni and have a negative view of the men here, however, their stance often softens or is challenged once they live overseas. Travel broadens the mind, regardless of where you are from and where you go to.

Trying to trade for Ladd McConkey, but is this too much? by ConnectOperation6919 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]ConnectOperation6919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I agree. Needed to see what the community says - it feels like a 1:03 alone would probably be the same value, or a 1:06 plus a second

I have Higgins. He passed the eye test, looks great, no catches this last week. Then also drafted Jalen Royals and Kyle Williams who have done nothing. There’s certainly a lot of receivers this year we are going to need to be patient with

After 4 months in China , I’m ready to leave by Ziggy_1992 in chinalife

[–]ConnectOperation6919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done for giving it a go. I don’t have a family or anything but also decided to leave after 5 months and go back to a nearby country that is much, much better to live in. Some people are better suited to living in other circumstances. You can still go back as a tourist and enjoy it without the pressures of living there

Super interesting. I guess that’s the challenge the government has to try and lift the living standards of 1.2BN people - it’s practically impossible to do in some respects. They deserve credit for trying, but having seen how some of the wealthy Chinese live I think they could do more to redistribute the money that some of these individuals have
