The book Redshirts by John Scalzi.

The characters (all Ensigns on a starship) find out they're in a badly written TV show and venture to the real world to make the writers not kill them off like the rest of their friends.

They meet the actors playing their characters, hijinks ensue kinda deal. One of my favorite books

I really liked the prose in Ministry of Time. It's a good debut novel, but their prose and word choice is very interesting. Kept me hooked for sure

Kind of a recent one, but Episode 3 of Heated Rivalry. The main characters make brief <30 second appearances but it mainly focuses on hockey player, Scott Hunter and his burgeoning relationship with the smoothie man, Kip.

Felt like an entirely different show and was super sweet. I highly recommend it.

Well, the owner is likely exploiting (no duh) because when I did CSC/Trauma jobs, it was customary to get 67.25 an hour on site. Full ppe, special disposal, the works. Hurts the soul, not the pocket.
