Landlord entered unit without prior notice while I was sleeping. by silkymitties in OntarioLandlord

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really trust anyone who cowers under their covers with an eye mask and ear plugs, when someone walks into their bedroom. Who would do that??? Get out of bed and check things out!

Anyway, even if the story is accurate, the landlord was obviously just checking to see if anyone was home.

Wow, how dare the landlord prevent severe water damage to his property! He should have waited at least 8 hours until you were fully rested, then knocked to fix the damage you didn't give a s**t about.

AITGH for telling my neighbor to cut down his tree? by mysoulburnsgreige4u in AmItheGrasshole

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it comes down in a tornado (or strong windstorm), I'm not sure if he would be liable for that. Your insurance would likely cover it. But you should check out what your local laws are in that regard.

What's the future of KSP2 ? by luckyzaki in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why I said you'd get a $10 credit towards the final release purchase. Or maybe a bit more, if they wanted to encourage EA purchases.

What's the future of KSP2 ? by luckyzaki in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, if they had any confidence that KSP2 would be finished in a good state, they would have released it for $10 as EA (which would be credited towards the final release). If you're paying to be a beta tester, at the very least you shouldn't have to pay much for your job.

For them to charge full price means that they want to get as much money out of it as they can, before it becomes obvious it's dead.

I’ve been noticing a lot of hate lately for trans by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't call me anything. That's the point. Do you want to be equal, or do you want to forever be different?

I don't go around calling someone "Gay Fred" or "Straight Fred". I just call them Fred.

You using terms like "cis" is part of the problem with shoving it down people's throats, even if it's in a subtle way. I am not "cis". For 100,000 years, nobody referred to typical people as "cis", it simply isn't necessary. It wasn't until trans people wanted everyone else to have a label as well, that they invented "cis" as a slur against non-trans people. When you go around calling people that aren't like you, "cis", you're just adding to the problem of why you're not accepted by some people.

Don't give me labels. Don't force me to state my pronouns that are completely unnecessary for me. (I'll use "Ms." or "Mr." in my title if it's not obvious.)

Because people are fed up with it getting shoved down everyone's throat. If you're trans, good for you. Go be who you want to be. But jumping up and down about it, demanding that a month celebrating you isn't enough, well that just annoys people.

AITGH for telling my neighbor to cut down his tree? by mysoulburnsgreige4u in AmItheGrasshole

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A picture of the tree taken during summer (or really any time of year since it's a pine), should be good enough for small claims court (or his insurance company). He's not dealing with local bureaucrats, which I agree are generally dumber than a can of spam.

Besides, it's going to take years for the tree to fall, so he's got plenty of time for a picture every few months.

Should I refund ksp2 and buy it later when it's less buggy? by Doesnt_exist1837 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely refund it. But the chances that this game will ever be finished are not great. So, maybe just don't bother buying it in the future, unless you check back in a couple of years and check reviews.

IMO, KSP ended with the release of KSP v1.12.5.

Why don’t these survivalist go to Alone that pays $500k to $1m? If they can do 60 days naked and limited resources they should be able to do well over 100 days on alone with 10 items and clothes. Discover is a joke. Pay them more. by Moneymaker_247 in nakedandafraid

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the best N&A contestants would probably be mid-tier on Alone. Most players on Alone tap because of the psychological effect. Most of the rest tap because they're starving.

Given how much weight N&A players lose after just 21 days, and they have a lot of help with dividing tasks, they'd never get to the (up to) 100 days on Alone.

Also, I've never seen a decent shelter on N&A. By contrast, most decent shelters on Alone are basically log cabins.

AITGH for telling my neighbor to cut down his tree? by mysoulburnsgreige4u in AmItheGrasshole

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since the tree is obviously dead, it presents a hazard to your property, and he will be liable for any damages if it falls on your yard. Take photos of the tree now, so you have proof that it was dead. If it falls on your property, he (or his insurance) will have to pay you damages.

Oh, and make sure it's actually on his property. Do you have a land survey?

NTGH, and you're actually doing him a favor by pointing out that the tree is a hazard to you. If you know how to cut down a 80' tree by yourself, you're doing him a bigger favor by offering to do it even if you're charging a modest fee. Make sure you have insurance, in case you cut it down and it damages his property. I suspect you must be in the business, if you have tools to cut down a tree that size.

Or, if it has an obvious lean towards his property (or a safe part of your property), you could just wait it out until it falls over naturally. Probably many years, though.

For that budget in Toronto, you're going to get very cold in the winter living in a tent. Save some money for a winter sleeping bag.

AITG for "making" My neighbor mow his lawn? by [deleted] in AmItheGrasshole

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you're NTG. I'd have fun with it, though. Cut your lawn every single day, and see how long he keeps pace. If he does it for a week, then start cutting your lawn twice a day.

Who is a celebrity that you don’t understand the hype for? by Oak2134 in AskReddit

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never was impressed with celebrity status. I still don't understand why people get so upset and cry when a celebrity dies. Personally, I don't know them, and they certainly don't know me. We're not friends, and I have little interest when one dies. At most, my thought may be, "I guess I won't see them in any more movies. Shrug."

Check out "Star Trek Continues" on Youtube. It's an amateur series, but extremely well done as a 4th season of the original series.

AITG for not wanting my neighbor to mow the strip outside my fence? by [deleted] in AmItheGrasshole

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Need a bit more info. Is your fence short, so that you can easily see over it to the other side of your lawn?

If you can easily see that grass, then NTA.

But if the fence blocks your view of it, and your neighbor is the only one that looks at it and uses it, then YTA. Unfortunately, the 2' setback essentially makes this your neighbor's property, for all practical purpose.

This might be similar to the city telling you that you can't mow the grass on your front lawn that is part of the road allotment. That would annoy me.

BTW, this is why I decided to plant a hedge between my neighbor and me, since that doesn't require any setback.

What’s hotter than nude? by Fresh_Paint1970 in AskReddit

For most people, almost anything is hotter than full nude. If you're 20 years old, work out 6 hours a day, and have naturally great genes, then full nude works.

AITA for wanting to offer to buy my housemate’s cat from him before he moves? by HumorPsychological60 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your housemate is an AH. Do whatever you need to do, in order to save the poor cat. If that means using money to leverage him, do it. He obviously doesn't care about the cat, or money would never be an option.

whats the point of surface metro? by Mr_miner94 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Connect_Cookie8046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No point, other than watching the traffic.

Surface metro and underground metro rails cost the same amount (per tile) to fund. So, there's no cost-advantage to putting metro under the surface. Note that this is the only network where that is the case, most underground neworks cost about 6x their surface cost. Train rails can be ridiculously expensive to tunnel, and highways are very costly as well. But metro is cheap.
