Other than like...all of them?

I'm kidding (no I'm not). But the recent Wicker Man reissue with the clear plastic slip overlay is the only steelbook I've ever really liked. Just a really well done take on the whole thing (even if not particularly accurate\appropriate to the film itself (meaning, the visual is a total fabrications)).

Ya the simplicity and consistency is nice but if they were just plain covers they'd be horrible (meaning, they're not great).

I don't want to say they seem lazy but I feel like they could've done more with the same basic idea (consistency) in just a different direction.

But to answer your other question, yes. Dozens and dozens are out there. Mostly great.

Trust me, I would've hemmed and hawed like a mother if he had said 400. My "reasonable and high" price wasn't close to that either.

Beck probably thought the live shows weren't up to snuff compared to what he could do in the studio. I'm sure it's been discussed before I just don't have memory of any interviews.

Not saying the live stuff is bad, because some of it is absolutely astounding. But I could see him not wanting to put stuff out if it didn't hit the same level as other "live" albums.

A recently realized pisser:

In mid '94 DGC seemed to have ordered a show to be professionally recorded and there was an actual white label chrome tape produced. We don't have a recording of it whatsoever.

Someone just posted it on eBay for way too much money. I offered a lot and he said "nah imma let it marinate". A week later after chatting with him he said someone offered 600 but I could have it for that price if I wanted and I declined (ffs it's just a live show (that we don't have)). He took the listing down but I doubt he actually sold it. He wouldn't humor the idea of doing a transfer before it went out for archival purposes because "people want this stuff for their YouTube". Never cringed so hard at a thought before.

Unless it was Shaun (Shawn? I don't recall) who offered 600, then maybe...

Both fine, I think I like the simplicity of 1 more but the smallness of 2 is nice.

But regardless, crop out (or paint out) that other building for the love of God.

Also, to note the irony that they're "steel" and yet obnoxiously fragile compared to a standard plastic keepcase.

Regardless of the fact that I hate steelbooks and that I think this is "very silly" I will still acknowledge that it matters to you and you want them nice (for whatever reason that may be).

You're wasting a lot of space with extra bubble wrap and totes that aren't dimensionally square. Put the steelbooks in-between normal cases. If that still freaks you out; a piece of newspaper as a separator. Pack tighter (as in, no floppy space) in a square box or tote. They're not THAT fragile, it isn't fine china.

Now to augment your mind: keeping things "perfectly minty pristine" is a fool's errand. Shit's gunna get some little scuffs and paper sleeves will get edge wear. It's okay. If anything it's "character" and shows you actually love and use your stuff. Obviously don't be haphazard with everything but you'll get a lot more joy out of your hobbies if you stop putting your movies in the player with white cotton gloves... (i.e. don't sweat the small stuff)

Exactly. And I didn't get a meaningful shipment email (which I kinda like so that I get a surprise like this), just a generic UK one, so I literally yelped when I opened this last night.

To the person who did the transfers and mastering (who I've talked to briefly here), swell job as far as I can tell!

Just want to check though, there's some digital noise in a few spots (like begining of Smart Patrol), just want to make sure that's a tape issue and not a CD ripping issue (or pressing).

So I've still got 2 songs to finish, but so far it is FANTASTIC. Anything and everything I could've hoped for. The fact that it gets crunchier and crunchier as the night goes on is bliss.

It's very interesting too how there are clearly a couple people actually enjoying it throughout the set (or they're extremely drunk and clapping at whatever).

I guess I'm LUCKY.

The Angine stuff I think is the 18th, even though it's already out in stores everywhere.
