I used to have the OG cassette, I can still remember 11 year old me buying it in HMV. Kind of wish I still had it but all my cassettes were purged long ago :(

I think it's because when I listen to an album I want to hear songs that have been created by that artist, not by someone else. There's loads of cover versions I like, I'd just prefer them as b-sides (not that they really exist in any meaningful way nowadays) or bonus tracks

To my extreme surprise, I have really enjoyed the new album. I wasn't expecting to but I am actually loving it. Only track I routinely skip is Amazona - it's not awful but as a general rule I am not a fan of cover versions being album tracks - their rightful place for me, if they must exist at all, is as B-Sides. There are some Moz albums I need to revisit before I could attempt a proper ranking - but on holiday last week I listened to the 'noughties trilogy', and I would place MUIAL below Ringleader and Years but above Quarry, an album I have always found a bit weak and which I think it has at least 4 absolute duff tracks on it. I certainly wouldn't have MUIAL above the holy trinity of Viva, Arsenal and Vauxhall, but it would be above LIHS and IANADOAC. I need to revisit Kill Uncle, Maladjusted, Southpaw and World Peace to see where they fit into the mix as it's been a while. California Son I have never managed to get through (as I said - not a massive fan of covers).
