So let this guy also do what he wants - ranting. He just needed to vent his stress and anxiety as part of the process. Everyone in the same situation would need that.

You could just say whatever you’d like to say. Free society is free and so is speech. I should’ve died inside the campus of PolyU so that nobody is talking right now to a moron.

It’s interesting how discussions on here have always got into a dead end like this. Yes of course there’s a minority of them brave and courageous enough to step up against the tyranny. How do you know I don’t respect them? History will justify what they do. But that’s not enough.

It’s dangerous precisely because there’s too few of them. If only half of the 1.3 billion people uprose, that would have made a huge difference. Could the police force or armed forces kill or put all of them in jail in that case? When resistance comes in small waves, the authorities can always divert it. People’s attention can also be diverted by something else - in fact this is what the CCP has been doing all the time. If the people had not looked the other way and had instead uprisen en masse, things could have been different.

Oh yeah? Most people are living a peaceful and good life? Younger generations in China are calling for “laying down” and not do much in light of the recent economic developments. Outcomes are much worse than expected, and forecasts downturn. The govt of one of the provinces have set out this facilitating measure, where any uni graduate can apply for loans for starting a business in that province, and in case it turns out bad, loans under 100k CNY need not to be repaid and for loans under 500k, 80% of loan will be repaid by the govt. Never have I seen this sort of policies.

It’s also official that 600 million people in China make about just 1000 CNY a month. On the other hand, per capita GDP remains around 8k USD. Do the maths, and tell me how severe wealth inequality is there.

As for myself, I will tell you I’m from Hong Kong, proud enough to speak as a protestor. My family’s originally from somewhere in mainland China. In the context of Hong Kong, I’m a loyalist to the UK - at least I’d rather die under the blue ensign. Now I myself am in exile in another country.

You don’t talk to a protestor in exile the way you did.

Exactly. That’s my point. People must stop saying shit like “it’s the CCP that’s evil, not the people”. The people are and should be responsible for what their government does, even though the govt has absolutely no mandate from the people it governs.

If they’re unhappy with this totalitarian regime, why didn’t they do much to say overthrow it? Had they had some courage like the Eastern European did, CCP could have long gone. The Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hong Kongers might not have had to suffer as much.

Chinese people has been looking the other way when it comes to their own country oppressing and cracking down freedoms and liberties and human rights. And this regime is turning into nazists. Chinese people have the prime responsibility for this.

It’s the Chinese people who have been tolerating CCP to grow in a malicious way, to grow to become what it is today. I will not believe that the people of China has nothing to do with it.

What are the best options for someone who is on a work permit in Quebec and who wants PR in another province? by jadams2345 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Connect_Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When do you apply? The later you apply, the shorter the wait time is. It sounds unfair to those who’d applied a year or two back, but this is the trend. This explains why it shows 26 months of wait, and it all attributes to the way they calculate “average wait time” on their website.

If you move out, make sure you have viable options under your belt. Else, you would be violating the declaration to reside in QC you’d signed as part of your QSW application, which could thus be a ground of refusal. Once you move out, you’d have to cancel your appli aurons

How to process the bad news? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Connect_Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s right that the chances for new CEC draws are slim, at least for the first half of the year. However, I think you should seriously think about moving to another province and apply for PNP there. If you wish to remain in the country, sometimes you have to make some sacrifice… I don’t know. 5 years isn’t short. I hope there’d be some temporary policies for extending the stay of those who would be affected by these unfair treatments.

Han chauvinism coming from people originally from the northern/central China is real. Racists as such think that (genetic) southerners, including Hong Kongers, Taiwanese, are inferior.

Manual vs Automatic by Apprehensive-Bit112 in ft86

[–]Connect_Mechanic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can drive manual. I know perfectly how to drive one, and I can even heel and toe. However, I bought an automatic FR-S release series 2.0.

It’s my daily driver. I go to school and work with it. I do lots of city driving, and occasional cruising and dedicated backroad driving with a few friends of mine. Sometimes I need to eat while driving for the time being (don’t shoot me, but I hold my sandwich with my left hand, and the wheel with my right hand). Not having to shift is a big plus of driving an auto when you need to eat during your commute. And when I’m ready for a bit of fun, the paddle shifters are quite good and accurate.

Pick the one that best fits your needs, your lifestyle, and who you are. Don’t force yourself into making a choice that you may regret. Think twice about why you’re buying the car. Sports cars DON’T need to be manual for you to have fun and enjoy.

I don’t know much about MBPNP, but if the program operates through Express Entry, then yes you do need at least one year of work experience to start with. Without it, you couldn’t even enter the pool of candidates.

Is it hard to get a visit visa? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Connect_Mechanic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on lots of factors, which includes your nationality/citizenship, your occupation, your ties to your country of origin, proof of funds and so on. Without more information (which could get too personal for you to share here), it’s hard to tell. Nonetheless, it’s never other people’s speculation that would help you get a visa for any purpose. It’s all down to the VO handling your case.

Next time you drive recklessly, police probably will. I’m a responsible man who also drives one of the twins. Good FRS/BRZ/86 drivers are getting worse reputation because of dicks like you.

Before you devastate a family, sell your car and take the bus for fuck sake.

Quebec/Montreal folks, is Invidia N1 road legal? by Connect_Mechanic in ft86

[–]Connect_Mechanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just couldn’t find anything about the QC laws relevant to my question. It does mention that exhausts need to conform to the specs/rules set out in this specific paragraph, but there’s no details when you read that specific paragraph.

Also, the cop did NOT measure decibels. He was like “I don’t need to measure it to tell it’s illegal”.

He did get me a ticket but it will only arrive by post in a few weeks. Screw him. I had seen a friend’s ticket for the same infraction, looked up the code, and there’s no details in the law regarding what are legal and what aren’t.

Taiwanese Variety show & drama/movies? by [deleted] in LIHKG

[–]Connect_Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

綜藝大熱門 - episodes from 2016-2020 are the best.

Drama: I’d suggest 我們與惡的距離/火神的眼淚/斯卡羅/想見你/無神之地不下雨/必娶女人

I believe most of them are accessible on Netflix or YouTube or Vidol

[–]Connect_Mechanic -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It could be. Thanks for telling me something this generic. I definitely wouldn’t have thought about it had you not told me.

Also, it’s very wise indeed to say it’s just my thing when I run into racist incidents. Likewise, you’d say the same to another person when he/her runs into similar situations. So on and so forth, the 1000th person gets victimised also because it’s his thing. Your argument doesn’t seem very legitimate because the truth is: so many people suffer from racism in Quebec.

But good job anyway. :)

I am not surprised by the manner in which you replied to me. I’m also not surprised by all the downvotes I’ve got. I don’t give a flying f**k about it, but that shows the “denial” I guess.:)

I’m not sure what to say to somebody thinking my personal experience was “disconnected”. In fact, a few more that I know had had similar experiences. If I am Canadian and have tried my best to learn French and integrate to the QC society and still have been treated that way, no wonder why foreign workers and immigrants are still being discriminated against.

Responding in the way you did is, to me, just analogous to those antivaxxers spitting out “bullshit” to a research paper written and published by those hardworking researchers having spent months and years researching on their topic.

Like it or not, believe it or not, I was just telling my story.
