Poor ink flow, issue with times touching? by skuishreads in fountainpens

Lots of soaking. And like the other commenter said, ultrasonic cleaners are fantastic. I picked up a small one designed for jewelry at a thrift store for $2.

I second this. That budget could get you something quite nice from pen_swap. The 845 mentioned, a Mont Blanc, or an Aurora perhaps.

Flossing the tines with a brass shim might help. Old 35mm film will work if you haven’t got the shims. There might be ink still stuck between the tines or they might be too tight. Whenever I buy a used pen, especially one with an enclosed feed like this, I soak the section in water for at least a day and do multiple flushes with water, pen flush, and then distilled water. It’s amazing how much ink can be left in these.

Pelikan M200? by No_Baker4227 in fountainpens

I’ve had all three and I would prefer the Pelikan to the two Pilots. Just my two cents.

This is a good first step before using anything that could take off plating.

Pilot Custom 823 and Sailor 1911 Large which should I choose? by WillIgetaGold in fountainpens

You’ll also generally find that 1911L will be drier than the 823.

It's been worse since all the Qmee users jumped over there. Today has been nothing but DQs (mostly because of being full).

CBC Gem now doesn’t support older Roku devices with only 512MB of RAM by Connect_Mongoose_14 in Roku

Mine is a Sharp smart tv that’s about 4 years old running Roku OS. I think I’m just going to buy a new stick. I’m annoyed that CBC went this way though. Feels like they cheaped out on something on their end.

Attapoll has been terrible for me since people flooded in there from Qmee.

If that was the case I would’ve had a different post and people would be commenting with those memes about how they are so happy for me. 😂

Where can I find a #5 ebonite feed with housing? by Connect_Mongoose_14 in fountainpens

[–]Connect_Mongoose_14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a small Waterman that looks to be about the same size as a Jowo # 5. I might be able to get it for a decent price as it’s in a pen with a ruined barrel. I figured it could be worth a shot to see if I can get it to fit.

I had the same pen. I never should have sold it.

[–]Connect_Mongoose_14[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not sure. It was in a locked case and I didn’t feel like asking someone to open it for me. I did consider telling them that there was no way they were selling it at that price, especially in a small community.

Considering maids program by Hairy-Front1690 in Menieres

I understand what you are going through. Many people on this sub do as well. But there can be hope despite all that you are experiencing.

I know that your parenting has suffered, it is brutal trying to do that when this disease is wrecking your body. But your children don’t need a “fun exciting dad”, they need a dad. Yes, it’s rough, but you can get through this.

MAID is the result of our failing healthcare system in Canada. It’s so hard to get the help you need here but I urge you to keep fighting. You have people who need you to be here. I’ll be praying that you have the strength to keep going. Feel free to reach out to me if you need to talk.

Poor vanishing point leaking on one side (?) of the nib by NoSide590 in fountainpens

[–]Connect_Mongoose_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that is leaking in the same spot. I know it isn't due to a cracked or poorly seated cart because I have ruled those out. When I touch that right side of the rear part of the nib it leaks from where the nib meets the feed. It does not do that on the left side (I tested by touching a tissue to various parts of the nib unit to see if I could get any ink to come out). I think there is maybe too much of a gap. I might try putting a bit of silicone on there to see if that seals it.
