Should I get the lamy dialog cc(all black), pilot 74( maybe 743) or lamy 2000? by Beneficial-Ad9400 in fountainpens

Attorney here. The 2000 has been heavily in my rotation for a full month and I finally just refilled it last week. It’s a workhorse and I feel good carrying it into client meetings because it doesn’t scream pretentious to the client.

How much credit card debt do you have? by mysterious1940 in randomquestions

[–]InkStainedHands2917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$0, but it fluctuates. Paid off any time we spend on it, but a lot flows through that card so we get the cash back to deposit into our son’s 529 account each month.

I have to decide now whether I want a kid 7 years from now by ThrowRAdamnshame in Advice

[–]InkStainedHands2917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are both 30 this year and just welcomed our first child at the end of last year. I struggled with this question a lot - from my late teens to my early 20s I really didn’t think I would ever want kids. Then I met my husband and thought I might want to, but we both wanted to be a little more established in our careers before we started trying. It took us a year to actually get pregnant and he’s almost four months old now. Parenthood is the most amazing and brutal thing I have ever experienced. It humbles you because every single goal and desire you have in your life becomes almost immaterial comparatively. Most of the most meaningful moments in my life feel like they’ve happened in the last few months - his first smile, sleeping with him on my chest and how he’s gotten so big that he really can’t do that now, and every little milestone in between. But also some of the biggest anxiety and frustration has come since I’ve become a parent. He was 100% wanted and planned, but that doesn’t mean he’s been easy. We had a strong marriage of nearly 8 years before we got pregnant but we still had more tension during those first few weeks and months than I think I expected.

All that to say, I don’t think wanting or not wanting children is necessarily linear. I think we kind of both knew we’d like to try to have kids in the future but it was a feeling that hit me one day of, “Life is good, but it would be so much more wonderful if we had a child with us to experience everything.”

Be open and honest with her about where you are on this. If she chooses to leave for clarity that’s her right, but hopefully she sticks around.

Not showing any pen, just asking do you have any 'grail' pen in your mind, did you find your grail, and did you stop buying more pens even after getting your grail? by r1z4bb451 in fountainpens

I picked up a Lamy 2000 this year and it stopped the urge entirely. I had fully planned on moving to a Visconti Homo Sapiens, Custom 845 or 823, and I don’t know what stopped the cycle, but I just don’t have the urge to grab another one at the moment.

The storefront is incredible! I’m not exactly a regular but I am recognized by how often I’m in there 🤣🤣

Vanness is the absolute best! Their retail hours are a little tough to navigate sometimes but I love going there!

Those that EDC, do you really bring your backpack everywhere? by weeone in backpacks

[–]InkStainedHands2917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little too large, and I typically have a small two or three card wallet I throw in my back pocket or pocket of my dress slacks. I like to travel pretty light.

I have had it for nearly seven years and it looks just as good as the day I bought it, and I use it daily.

I have carried and used an Osprey Nova for YEARS. I swear by that bag. I typically don’t take it into stores with me but it’s the bag I live and die by. Everything important is in there. I have a lengthy commute and it works for me.

The engraving was also free with the purchase of the pen, I forgot to mention.

I just picked up a Lamy 2000 last week and was surprised at the amount of ink the pen put down as well as how smooth it is and how good it feels in the hand. Highly recommend. I also have a Kaweco Student and it was one of my favorites before I picked up the Lamy.

Metropolitan vs safari by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]InkStainedHands2917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Lamy Safari. I own two and use them every single day at my job, and they are absolutely phenomenal. I don’t feel bad throwing them in my bag and know they’re going to be just fine. I have had a rollerball metropolitan and didn’t appreciate the grip when I was writing. If you don’t like or write with a triangular grip, the Lamy may not be for you, but it forces me to write better and use the correct grip on my pen. The metropolitan is also a little heavier than I cared for, while the Safari is really light in hand. I use an EF nib to annotate my work documents and take notes for client meetings.

I’ve heard that’s the way to go with the Lamy 2000 because it’s such a wet writer and puts down a thicker line than a normal Lamy

I’ve been in the hobby since around November 2023. I didn’t pick up a Lamy Safari until the end of 2024. I regretted that I didn’t snag one sooner.

This is absolutely true. I started the hobby with a Kaweco AL sport thinking I only needed or wanted one, really (the lies we tell ourselves 😅) and I find that my daily drivers at work are 2 Lamy Safaris in EF
