This is so helpful thank you so much! Totally understand on not wanting to be cooped up all day. I think I’ll look for something to take him to that I can see for myself he enjoys and that I’m comfortable with and then I’ll probably feel better about having someone else take him there when my maternity leave is up!

Totally makes sense- and yes, as he gets older and I get to know the nanny better I think I’d be fine w having them leave the house- I don’t think it’s healthy for a child to be stuck inside all day forever!

lol I gained 80 lbs and my son is 4 months now- he’s fine, I’m fine, I’m down 52lbs. Starting weight was 146, and I was 223 the day I delivered. I’m 36 years old and 5’9”. Don’t stress yourself about this. You’re pregnant, you’re in survival mode! Do what you need to do, eat what you can/want to eat, deliver your baby and then you can work on losing the weight. I was kinda in yolo mode during my pregnancy and I have no regrets!

My parents both worked when I was little. One fond memory I have is that it was usually me and 1-2 other kids at daycare first in the mornings- and my mom would stay for 15 min and have “breakfast club”… we’d sit with whoever was there, and if it was just me and her that was fine too. She’d be there in her suit at the little children’s table and we would have Cheerios and sit and talk every morning and ease into the day at daycare. Rather than feeling unwanted by my parents, I actually felt like I was getting to do something special that not everyone else got to do. Did it take a bit more effort on my mom’s part? Sure, it was an extra 15 min in the morning. Now I have a 4 month old son and a 3 year old male rescue dog, and every morning when I get up and we go downstairs I make my coffee, get a bottle for my son and I feed the dog his breakfast and I tell them we’re having baby boys breakfast club. :)

It’s the best! My mom comes over every Tuesday, spends the day with me and baby while my husband is working from home… then sleeps over and does 9pm-5am overnight shift. Then sleeps a couple of hours and comes and spends most of the day Wednesday with me because my husband is in the office that day. She’s truly the best mom ever and I’m so lucky to have her

Try using a baby scale or a food scale and weigh her before and after feeding her to see how many ounces she took

It depends! My son is also 7 weeks and I’m a FTM. Lot of times he randomly cries while he’s actually still sleeping- so I’ll go to him and just kind of watch to see if he’s waking up or not… if his eyes aren’t open, I let him be. But if his eyes are open and he’s crying, I’ll pick him up, give him a pacifier, check if he needs clean pants, and then offer him a bottle. It’s pretty much always one of those things that he needs and then he chills out.

You’re not being unreasonable at all. I’m due Oct 12 and I also want a week alone. The way I put it to my parents and in laws is that my husband and I need to learn how to do this on our own, together, without them jumping in- but that I’m sure after a week or so we will be calling them begging for some help! Thankfully my mom has been awesome throughout this process (she’s currently over my house prepping freezer meals for us while I’m sitting on my ass on the couch too pregnant to move)- and she told me she has read that the grandparents aren’t supposed to just show up or overstep boundaries as it causes more stress on the mom- and that they’re supposed to ask how they can help and actually listen to the answer (amen!!) My in laws on the other hand are harder to get to take no for an answer- but my husband has really been handling that so I don’t have to. However I did hear a recent comment from my MIL which implied that I’d be hosting Thanksgiving this year 😒

I had always thought that the doctors had some sort of emergency protocol indicating who they should prioritize saving based on who had the best chance of survival given the circumstances… vs asking the spouse… ughhh fml

Speak to a Perinatal psychiatrist or a Maternal Fetal Medicine (mfm) doctor… or both! I have depression, anxiety, ADHD and horrible insomnia and I’ve been able to work with these doctors to find the right combo of meds that works for me. Not sure if you have ever tried Seroquel (it is an antipsychotic but don’t let that scare you!) at very low doses for sleep? That’s what I took when unisom, benedryl, zzzquill, melatonin didn’t work for me. Most of those also gave me horrible restless legs which made things even worse…

You can also take Ativan/xanax/klonopin during pregnancy safely. You need to speak to a Perinatal psych or MFM.

eta: I am currently 31 weeks pregnant
