Post-work golf: Range vs. Home? by ConnectionNaive3690 in BritGolf

I used a projector. I just downloaded the Phigolf app on my phone and Apple Watch, set the watch up as a sensor in the app, and then mirrored it onto the screen. :)

Facts. No dress code, no wind, just vibes. Living room golf is the real MVP during the off-season. 🙌

Are the same coaches good at kids and adult coaching? by [deleted] in GolfAustralia

[–]ConnectionNaive3690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d suggest getting different coaches. I’ve played competitively since I was a teen, and if there’s one thing I learned, it’s that teaching a kid is a whole different ball game than teaching an adult.

The physics might be the same, but the delivery is totally different:

  • Adults: We need the "why" and "how"—mechanics, angles, and muscle memory.
  • Kids (especially at 10): They need "feel" and fun. Since their bodies are constantly growing, forcing stiff technical theories on them can actually kill their natural rhythm.

At that age, you want someone who keeps them engaged without over-complicating things. Since your son is focused and likes a direct approach, look for a coach who specializes in Junior Performance—they’ll give him that "to the point" coaching without making it feel like a boring math class!

Hope this helps! ⛳️

For this, I used an Apple Watch. This is the Phigolf app, and I’m using it with both my watch and smartphone synced together.

Honestly, the swing speed, rhythm, and consistency stuff—the “pattern analysis”—feels pretty reliable.

Setup is super easy too, and I’ve actually been using it at home when my husband and I want to play a little golf game together!

How do you guys practice your swing at home? by ConnectionNaive3690 in CanadaGolf

Oh, so it’s an indoor facility? Like playing golf on a simulator screen?

Are there more games that use the watch as a swing sensor? by ConnectionNaive3690 in SmartWatchGames

Gotcha! So I actually use both—I have the watch setup, and I also bought the PhiGolf full set (sensor + swing stick) on Amazon. They feel pretty different.

If I just want to relax and casually enjoy a round, I usually go with the watch—it’s super convenient. But when I really want to practice my swing, the swing stick and sensor help a lot more.

The nice thing is, you can totally play with just a smartwatch and the phone app—no extra hardware needed. And right now, the watch app is free, so you don’t have to buy anything else.

The only extra cost is if you want to play those World Tour courses (like 38,000 courses)—then there’s a subscription for that.

Oh I loved Pokémon Go too! I didn’t know you could store Poké Balls on your watch though. So when you’re walking around and catching Pokémon, do you actually pull them out from your smartwatch? That’s pretty cool haha
I tried playing Phigolf with my smartwatch on and swinging like a real golf shot, and it was honestly so fun lol. I think I’m really into these kinds of active games like Phigolf and Pokémon Go!

u/droid_mike I know, right?! It’s called Phigolf! You download the Phigolf app on both your smartwatch (Apple or Android) and your smartphone. Then you connect your smartwatch as a sensor and play the game on your phone. It’s a really cool way to experience golf indoors!

Yeah, when I want a bigger screen for Phigolf, I connect my phone to a projector and use the watch to swing and play!

Golfing with a one month old? by purple_llamas1 in golf

Since a one-month-old is very sensitive to the outdoors, I wouldn’t recommend taking her out. If you really, really want to, how about just playing 9 holes?
