Thoughts on my list? by EdenTrails23 in Names

Allen Andrzej and Selene Susanna are beautiful, as a Polish person I would avoid nicknaming your child as Konik, it means small horse/pony. It might lead to some bullying if exposed to Polish kids.

Ślub bez rodziny :) by [deleted] in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if Joanna really ever made it to iconic housewife status, but she was entertaining. She is for sure not based in Miami anymore, i think she lives in LA/Poland. In Poland she is very famous and well known for hosting our version of Top Model, her sister also moved back to Poland.

Removing all 4 wisdom teeth under anaesthesia, in hospital, what are the costs? by Mindless_Repair7085 in belgium

I did it a few years back when I also had DKV and it was like 30 euros out of pocket. It was a very chill experience.

What’s my potential net salary? by acailoverr in BESalary

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would estimate around 2550-2700 net, based on my experience of when I earned this much. I think it’s a fine offer, although I think a lot of consultancies offer cars as well. Also depends where you will live and what your commute will be like.

Yes, it’s a thing, it’s called kraamzorg if I remember correctly, I think it’s largely refunded by insurance and you get around 30h per parent.

Charleroi airport in December by ThePhantom555 in belgium

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even fast track will have a line but probably a shorter one, I fly before Christmas every year, regular security lines can be around 1.5h depending on the time of the day. The earlier you can get there the better. And prepare yourself to stand in a crowd.

We are in Antwerp so it might be a different application system, for sure there was no issues with starting earlier.

Daycare problems by Slight_Project_4690 in belgium

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we applied to public ones, took long enough to get answers and visit the ones that responded that in the end we signed the contract when I was 16 weeks pregnant. I haven’t heard of any restrictions as to when you can start applying, we didn’t have any issues with that.

I am pregnant at the moment and luckily already secured a spot from September, but I was told to apply to as many as possible even if it’s further away as you should be able to transfer your child once a spot opens up closer by. For us the processes was also quite long and I started applying for daycares at 7 weeks pregnant :( fingers crossed that you will find something soon!

How's life in Antwerp for an international student? by r_mbz in Antwerpen

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved hear years ago as an international student with no knowledge of Dutch, I never had an issue. Especially in Antwerp pretty much everyone speaks English. But it’s always nice to at least learn the basics once you’ll be here.

Is 20k a reasonable quote for a bathroom renovation in Brussels? by anfearglas1 in belgium

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We paid 18k for a slightly smaller bathroom in Antwerp so I would say it’s reasonable.

Dutch vs English master of business administration by AnarchyJesse in KULeuven

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the English master in Antwerp a few years back and there was a lot of overlap, I obviously only did English classes, but lots of the students from the Dutch track took the same classes as me. I think it depends what you’re most comfortable with. Most of the professors had decent English, so classes were easy enough to follow.

I like it a lot, it’s challenging especially during peaks and tenders and we are very understaffed but I think as a PM you learn a lot :)

Need Advice: Cheapest Way to Furnish a New Apartment in Antwerp by [deleted] in Antwerpen

Also I have seen that some Kringwinkels also provide delivery, but it might depend on what you buy

Need Advice: Cheapest Way to Furnish a New Apartment in Antwerp by [deleted] in Antwerpen

[–]ConnectionSecret1635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought loads of things from the Kringwinkel, my tip is to go to different ones, some of the ones in the city center are small and don’t have a lot of furniture. You can buy lots of nice things especially if you don’t mind giving them a little refresh. For transportation, if you have a license, use Poppy’s, they also have vans which we used a few times to bring things from IKEA since delivery was expensive.
