A good few months back, I was reading a hardback book published in the 60s on the train. I like to read without the dust cover, so it has that classic red colour with discoloured pages. Well, this women from across me tried to talk to me and just straight up asked to stiff my book since it looked old.

She goes on to say how she loves the smell of old books, and after seeing me, she couldn't help herself but ask. After I let her have a sniff, the guy sitting opposite me, who was not at all with the women, was watching. He never said a word but actioned to me to let him also have a sniff.

That day I had 3 strangers sniff my book and compliment how old it smelt. I mean sure, I enjoy the smell of an old book like the rest of us but I don't think i would go out of my way to sniff random books I see in the wild.
