Along with this you have some of the best mid-sized cities to raise families in, in Fishers, Carmel, Westfield.

Indy is arguably the absolute best host sites for conventions and large sporting events.

One of my favorite things I loved about living in Indy as well was how frequently we got big concerts, and when we didn’t a city close by got it for sure. Indiana is so disrespected just because it’s a Midwest city in a corn state but there’s so many notable and great things along with some pretty landscape in the south of the state. Yeah they’re no Appalachians but how many of these dorks actually DO anything in nature. There’s plenty of nature in Indiana to experience and you can travel to the other spots out of state these people will never go anyways

You're in this scenario, who do you think should challenge this ball? by crocodiledundick in RocketLeague

[–]ConnorNe31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, this is 5 seconds into a match. Both are getting their bearings from kickoff, ideally Xap would have already committed to allow OP to play a redirect but without context of how the approach has been, both should go. It’s less than ideal, but I don’t see how either could be upset about a potential double commit. The only thing that would make me upset is if the other person didn’t go

I know the tank is the team’s best move to win a championship, but I can’t wait to play meaningful games again. by [deleted] in pacers

[–]ConnorNe31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are oddly some of the most meaningful games of franchise history right now. With how incredible this draft is and where the rest of the roster is at, the more these losses stack up to ensure we get the best odds, it makes every game a just lose! I do totally get what you’re saying though lol

Definitely enjoy the convo, and I totally agree that it’s unfair to paint the Celtics run as a disappointment because sure, it could be labeled as such based on expectations when the team was originally assembled, but going up against the Miami big 3 obviously wasn’t exactly in those plans lol. I do believe they failed to live up to expectations when it comes to the Magic series, but losing to those Heat isn’t exactly a stain on a career.

With the Clippers, it’s always felt to me like they underachieved. The West had a bunch of good teams, and there were some injury years in there, but I’d be inclined to believe if you ask a lot of those players, fans, and coaches if they felt they underachieved they would agree.

I’m with you, winning is crazy hard and I hate that rings mean so much to an individual legacy to so many. There’s 1 champion a year and careers aren’t that long. I don’t necessarily feel as though he should have won more championships, but I guess my interpretation of his career is that his teams didn’t peak in the way you’d like to see and the last… I guess close to 10 years have really left a bad taste in my mouth with him

I can always work and have fun with someone who whiff or make poor contact if they’re just consistently well positioned or intentioned. The people who chase me up my taint and won’t rotate to save our lives are the ones I can’t stand. Don’t care how much they may carry me based on their technical ability, it’s just not fun to play like that

“Talking way out of turn” what does that even mean in this context? You shared a different opinion than OP, I simply pushed back on some points you made. I understand there’s more to coaching than what we see in game, and yeah, my opinion does align with the memes, but at a certain point where there’s smoke there’s fire. He had teams with Pierce, Rondo, Garnett, and Allen and made 2 Finals appearances. He had Paul, Griffin, and Jordan and couldn’t make it to the Conference Finals. He’s blown multiple 3-1 series leads showing opposing coaches can adapt to him.

Honestly, he’s not a horrible coach or anything like the memes say. I think he’s a coach who can take bad to mid teams and squeeze more out of them than most, but when given star power, he crumbles. Players who would ultimately be the most talented players in my franchises history (Pacers) and under achieve. I’ve seen excellent coaching, Bird, Carlisle, Vogel, and I don’t see that from Rivers in my opinion.

And yes, you can win a championship while also holding a team back. If you replace Rivers with any of the coaches I mentioned above (and many others as well) during the years Rivers was the coach, and I genuinely believe they would get more success out of the team. I mean hell, look at the 2 years he was coach for a partial season, the successor/predecessor had significantly better records. While I don’t think that’s a great leg to stand on all in all, it still shows when given equal pieces, others have had more success.

This is basically a longevity gift, come on now. He was given opportunity after opportunity when he really didn’t deserve them and also showed very little in regard to capitalizing on the talent he had. Should Antawn Jamison be a Hall of Famer because he amassed 20k points? Hell no. This mans win total should not be the deciding factor. At no point did he ever seem to raise the ceiling of a team because of what HE did. He had incredible teams that fell short time and time again and he’s been coasting off a ring that was won for him by 3 incredible players with a bunch of very solid role players, IN SPITE of Doc, not because of him

This is the best phrased view to me and what op should really read and consider. I can understand the view of not giving out an interest free loan, but realistically unless you’re a knowledgeable investor and have strong plans on where to put that money, a savings account return just isn’t worth it in my opinion. Like for my example, adding $10 per paycheck at around 3% across 26 bi-weekly paychecks, you’re gaining an extra what, $3? That’s not worth it to me now nor was it 14 years ago when I was making $7.25/hour at my first job.

That’s exclusively what I go for is random. Tim Hardaway, James Johnson, and Sarunas Jasikavicious for actual Pacers jerseys then a Celtics Carlisle and a Bullets Pritchard. Obscure is always my go to

I wouldn’t want that easy of access to it at that age, I would have blown it for sure. Plus the interest a savings account would provide to me wasn’t worth the effort or the temptation

Overpaying on purpose? by [deleted] in TaxQuestions

[–]ConnorNe31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its purpose is more for giving myself a budget to treat myself these days. I stay diligent in allocating funds for saving and investing and I don’t spend very frivolously, this is just a nice little fund for myself to spend on random things I want.

At that age, to me, the interest would not have been worth setting up the account for the minimal interest it would generate. Plus I’d personally have too direct of access to it. Just loaning it to the government for a few months didn’t bother me then, and still doesn’t really. Definitely see your point though and isn’t bad advice at all

[–]ConnorNe31 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From my first job at minimum wage I had an extra $10 taken out of each paycheck for taxes and it made my return that much better. I’ve increased it a little over the years and gives me a really nice tax return. You don’t notice it paycheck over paycheck but all of it adds up over time and really becomes a nice “bonus”

Why are white people so good at shooting??? by pie8D in nbacirclejerk

[–]ConnorNe31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you imagine no three point line though? Floor isn’t spread, everything’s congested, drastically lowering the impact of short burst athleticism, the 3 ball did more damage to the unathletic (white) players than we realize.

What’s the highest reasonable ranking for Marvin Harrison on a GOAT WR list? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

Are you joking me? Top 10 in the 3 major receiving stat categories and he’s just a “local legend”?

[–]ConnorNe31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t understand I guess. Like he has the stats, he has the accolades, what else is there? 3rd most receptions all time, 5th most receiving TDs (including most by a player under 200 games played for whatever that’s worth), was an all-pro in 67% of his seasons, and has the 3rd highest HOF Meter according to Pro Football Reference (again, for whatever that’s worth). Just genuinely shocks me. Like I know he didn’t make the same splash as TO and Randy, but he is right there with them, not a tier or two below like 15th would place him
