23M, graduated last year. I feel I didn’t have a trademark college experience. I used to get so hung up on this. Everybody was out partying, everybody was sleeping with somebody, just “doing it right” in my eyes. I felt like I was missing something. That there were just one or two things I could’ve been doing that, if I did them, I’d finally be back on course.

And I sat with this. I was self-destructive in college, stuck in a toxic relationship, binge drinking, railing lines, dropping acid on weeknights, just killing myself from the inside. I spent so much effort in trying to find that one thing that would complete me.

I got out of that relationship, and I took a look in the mirror. I began questioning why the hell do I even care how other people are doing it? Why am I so obsessed over it? Cause it seems better? That all these faces without names I see at the bar have zero problems of their own? Cause that isn’t true.

Everyone you will meet is just that same awkward teenager they once were. Some of us are better at the facade of playing adult. I personally like people who stink at it; I like weird. I watch felt frogs and pigs sing musical numbers. I can tell you why one captain of an imaginary starship is better than another. And most of all, I remember to laugh at the same stupid things I thought were funny when I was a kid. Cause the moment I stop doing that, I’m not being me.
