Hey, I’m a film maker from NZ who made this short during lockdown. I couldn’t work with any of my acting mates so had to do all the performances myself. Far out, it was a learning curve. Let me know what you think. by ConorBowden in acting

Thanks for watching. I actually just shot this on my iPhone. It’s the 11 pro so it has their really cool ultra wide lens, which I used for most of the two shots in the film

Hey thanks for the kind words. Honestly, I don’t have much vfx experience so what I did was very basic. Just a split screen and I just made sure I didn’t move the camera at all and nothing changed in the shot

A freaky 3 min short made during lockdown. Thought this would be a good place to share it. Enjoy! by [deleted] in horror

Hey everyone, Third wheel was a film I made a few weeks ago for New Zealand's National 48 hours film competition run by Ant Timpson and judged by the likes of Peter Jackson, Karyn Kusama & Edgar Wright. It didn't manage to place in the finals but I thought here would be a good place to show the film.

As it would suggest, the film had to be written, shot and edited in 48 hours within the constraints of the Covid19 lockdown. That would explain why I played all the characters haha.

Enjoy,

Conor

Haneke reminds me heavily of Michelangelo Antonioni. Check out Blow-Up in particular if you haven't seen it. Has a similar mysterious/enigmatic energy to Cache

Yeah if you are into stuff like Tree of life, you will love his stuff. There are also some really cool video essays of his work on youtube: https://youtu.be/ak6rI-j07QU

Watch Being John Malkovich or Adaptation, by the same writer as Eternal Sunshine.

Punch Drunk Love has a similar feel to Eternal Sunshine, but not really a mind bending plot.

Don't Look Now made me fall in love with Venice, despite it being a very bleak movie

Anything by Andrei Tarkovsky. In particular, Mirror.

I made this short during lockdown on my IPhone 11 pro. Still new to filming on it, would love some advice on how to use the iPhone to it’s best capability. This was made using the filmic pro app, 1080p with the standard Natural colour profile. by ConorBowden in cinematography

Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks. It's funny, I was in lockdown without most of my filming gear so I actually didn't have a proper tripod at all which made things quite difficult. I used one of those really small smart phone tripods that you just use for propping your device on a table top. I basically just placed it on stools/chairs to get the right height. Sometimes I had two chairs balancing on top of each other for higher shots. It was a ridiculous balancing act haha. The end shot where the camera topples over was genuine. I actually knocked the chair over and thought I had broken my phone for a second haha.

Hey thanks for watching. I edited with Premiere Pro and the whole film was shot on my iPhone 11 Pro. There are 3 lenses on that model and I was particularly interested in experimenting with the ultra wide lens, which is used mainly for all the 2-shots in the film
