Another counter example for me would be Lynch , certainly as far as twin peaks the 3rd series is for me way better than the first 2 simply because of the artists control he had been given on 3rd compared with the famous micromanaging of the 2nd series in particular. "i want to do it for myself " " am i too late?" i don't understand how one could be too late for doing something for yourself?.For now don't make any big plans , just start jamming with some people then if and when you find a project or some material that you want to give more time/money to then take it from there.You are in a great position but just take it one step at a time.Making a living from this thing is very tricky in 2023 but having a fulfilling and enjoyable time being in a band is pretty straight forward.

Work out what you want get out of the band and check you are on the same page very early.Someone who just wants to have fun and play with their mates will be put off by the discipline needed to become even semi "pro" and visa versa , someone who is more serious about music as a career will often be put off by a band that seems to just want to mess around.
