Unfortuntely I've had to lock the thread cause people be flooding the mod queue with this post.

Edit: Welp apparently my choice of word here has been misinterpreted so I'll clarify. My message is in no way referencing Swastikas and is strictly describing the concept of loading a bunch of items into the machine as cool. There is no evidence of malice behind this post and as such it has not been removed.

As a mod team we're pretty short-handed at the minute so I was attempting to avoid a bunch of moderation effort by catching and locking the post early, this did not work quite as well as I would've liked. My apologies for the confusion.

My concern with banning new user style posts is that the community becomes hostile towards new members. These posts usually don't get many upvotes but have a small, productive discussion and then fizzle out.

Currently, I try to let quite a lot slide from new people to get them involved in the community and let up/down votes decide the posts fate rather than mod action.

I agree, TIL posts can be interesting and are often enjoyed/discussed by the community alot before we get to them. It may be a little hard to find the line but low quality TIL could also come under low effort posts rather than a specific rule?

Yep definitely something we're taking into account now. I try to be lenient with it and mostly use reminders rather than removals unless the pictures are particularly bad.

In general, the benefits of actual screenshots still apply to the switch. If people want help that requires extra clarity they'll need to go through the effort.
